Here is what we know about the new mage hero Zetian in MLBB and her potential global release date in the original server.
What once was a hero exclusive to China, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) hero Wu Zetian, will soon debut in the global original server. While the exact date of her release is yet to be confirmed, she is currently playable in the MLBB advanced server.
Her kit is a blend of existing abilities and battle spell effects in the game. Her Passive ability: Celestial Armament makes her near untouchable. Meanwhile, her Ultimate can reveal all enemies, stun, and damage them, while also giving allies a movement speed boost. It almost feels like she has the potential to be at the top of the meta, probably a good alternative to other control mage heroes like Pharsa.
Here is a quick look at the hero Zetian in MLBB, her skills in the advanced server, and a potential release date.
MLBB Zetian skills explained based on the advanced server
Passive: Celestial Armament
Phoenix Crown: When Zetian hits enemy heroes with Phoenix Strike or Phoenix Descent, she gains a small amount of Spell Vamp for a few seconds, stacking several times.
Celestial Robe: The power of the Phoenix periodically protects Zetian, knocking back and stunning nearby enemy heroes while dealing Magic Damage. She also gains a Shield that lasts for a short time. This effect has a long cooldown.
Basically, it’s a combination of two Battle Spell effects. The knockback is similar to the one from Flameshot, while the shield effect is from Barrier. That’s two Battle Spells you don’t need to bring. Possibly, you will be using Flicker ot Purify on Zetian as an extra escape tool.
Skill 1: Phoenix Strike
Zetian sends a Phoenix Wave in the target direction. If it hits an enemy, she automatically casts up to two more waves. While casting, Zetian gains a slight Movement Speed boost and can use other skills.
The three waves deal increasing Magic Damage, with the third wave covering a larger area and slightly pulling enemies toward the center (not considered a control effect). Spell Vamp is less effective against Minions for this skill.
This skill is similar to Pharsa’s Skill 2: Energy Impact. However, if it hits an enemy, it attacks two more times. It even has a slow and defence reduction effect, making it a much better ability compared to Pharsa’s.

Skill 2: Phoenix Descent
Zetian summons a Phoenix Spirit at the target location, dealing Magic Damage and significantly slowing enemies in the area. The Phoenix Spirit hovers at the location for a short duration, periodically dealing Magic Damage and slightly reducing enemies' Magic Defense.
While the Phoenix Spirit is active, Zetian can use this skill again to command it to charge toward a designated location, dealing Magic Damage and applying a slowing effect upon arrival.
Her Skill 2 also reduces the enemy target’s magic defense, and can be cast twice. However, keep in mind that the second cast does not have the magic defense shred effect.
Ultimate: Fury of the Phoenix
Zetian calls upon her divine mandate and the hearts of her people, granting all allied heroes a burst of Movement Speed that gradually decays over a few seconds, while bringing divine retribution upon all enemy heroes, dealing Magic Damage and briefly stunning them. Zetian also gains vision of all enemy heroes during this time. Additionally, she can cast other skills while channeling this ability.
This Ultimate ability is highly similar to that of Yi Sun Shin’s pre-revamp Ultimate. It can reveal all enemies on the map and damage them. However, Zetian’s Ultimate has an additional effect of boosting allies’ movement speed and stunning enemies.
When is the release date of Zetian in MLBB?

The release date of Zetian in the MLBB live server is yet to be announced. However, we can do a bit of speculation based on the pattern of previous hero releases.
Typically, MOONTON Games releases a hero once every three to four months. The most recent release was in March 2025 with Kalea, three months after the release of Lukas back in December 2024. If we follow this format, Wu Zetian is expected to arrive in MLBB sometime in June 2025.
Keep in mind that this is purely just speculation and not confirmed by MOONTON Games. We’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for more updates in the future.
If you can't wait, you can always try the Zetian for free in the MLBB advanced server. However, please note that your progress on this server is completely separate from your original server account. This means you’ll have to start from scratch. Levels, items, and skins you unlock here will not transfer to your original account, and vice versa.
