Rivals meets Rivals. The Marvel Rivals Showdown is happening via Twitch Rivals, and we’ve got all of the details.

Twitch Rivals is always a fun time, and this time around, we'll get to see some top Marvel Rivals players go at it. Just announced, the event takes place over a two-day period with 12 invited teams. All of them fighting for their share of a $200,000 prize pool.

Let's go over the format and all the details we know.

Marvel Rivals Showdown on Twitch Rivals format and prize breakdown

The event consists of 72 players, meaning it will see 12 teams of six individuals. There are two days, with a Group Stage first followed by a Bracket Stage. The tournament takes place on January 18 and 19, starting at 2 p.m. PST each day.

Here is the format and settings:

  • Group Stage is Round Robin with two matches per round
    • Teams are ranked based on their W/L record as the tournament progresses
    • Maps are randomly selected with priority on not repeating a map played in the last round
  • Bracket Stage is single elimination
    • Round 1 and Quarterfinals are best-of-three
    • Semifinals and Grand Final are best-of-five
  • In the opening rounds, maps are randomly selected and the higher seed determines side start
    • The team that lost the previous map then gets to select side start in the following map
  • The final rounds have the following map veto process:
    • Higher seeded team decides to be Team A or Team B
    • A bans Map 1
    • B bans Map 2
    • B bans Map 3
    • A bans Map 4
    • A picks first map to be played
    • B picks second map to be played
    • B picks third map to be played
    • B picks fourth map to be played
    • Remaining map is the decider fifth map

The prize pool for Marvel Rivals Showdown on Twitch Rivals is split between the different days. A total of $72,000 goes to Day 1, with $750 going to teams per each match win and $450 for each match loss.

Here is the breakdown of the $128,000 going out on Day 2:

  • 1st Place: $21,000
  • 2nd Place: $18,000
  • 3rd-4th Place: $12,000
  • 5th-8th Place: $8,750
  • 9th-12th Place: $7,500

A single Twitch Drop is available during the Marvel Rivals Showdown on Twitch Rivals. It is the Dancing Fortune Nameplate. You can earn it by tuning into the event for 30 minutes are either day it is active.

This event will happen on both the Twitch Rivals and Marvel Rivals channels. Tune in there when the action starts, as previously mentioned, at 2 p.m. PST on both January 18 and 19.
