We’ve got a first look at the most-played League of Legend team composition for Season 14’s year-end glamor tournament.

An early contender for the main League of Legends team comp we'll likely see pop up many times across the 2024 World Championship in Europe is quickly taking shape after the riveting Play-Ins stage played out in Berlin this week.

The Worlds 2024 Play-Ins are now in the history books as the premier League of Legends tournament truly gets underway — and there were certainly some stunning results already. Brazil made it to the Swiss Stage for the first time ever, GAM Esports flew the Vietnamese flag proudly even as the Southeast Asian region reshuffles, and 100 Thieves flopped big time.

The results across Summoner's Rift in Berlin, Germany have already been incredible, but the Play-In matches have given us something perhaps even more important: A first-look at LoL squad plans, the 2024 metagame, and what the 'core' team comp for Season 14's event may be.

With 24 games across 10 matches logged after the first Worlds 2024 bracket, a clear picture is already forming around the LoL champions professional players are prioritizing on the grandest stage in the esport. This includes one (or maybe two) picks per role and a flex choice the pros clearly already consider a key battleground.

After Play-Ins, the core Worlds 2024 composition is:

  • Top lane - K'Sante
  • Jungle - Skarner/Wukong
  • Mid lane - Yone (for attack damage) or Syndra (for ability power)
  • AD Carry - Jhin
  • Support - Rell
  • Flex pick - Renekton

For anyone whose been watching Season 14 unfold, some of these picks won't be totally surprising, not least lane bully K'Sante, who the Riot balance team actually reworked immediately after the Worlds 14.18 update went live.

The Pride of Nazumah leads the way in play appearances so far in Germany, having popped up 10 times for a 50% win rate. He's joined at the top of the heap by flex selection Renekton as well as bot lane combination Jhin and Rell — The Virtuoso leads that trio in victories, winning a mighty eight of his 10 maps. The Butcher of the Sands trails behind at 50% through top and mid lane.

The early Worlds 2024 comp is rounded out by two variable picks in the playmaking roles: Yone and Syndra have both been played seven times in mid lane (though Yone's been banned twice as much as the spellcaster, appearing on the bench 14 times) and Wukong only beats Skarner to the jungle spot with nine appearances because he's making it through bans. Skarner has already ballooned out to a 95.8% pick-ban rate after 17 bans in 23 games.

Top Worlds comp has yet to roll out together

The composition actually works quite nicely, though Syndra would likely be a better pick than Yone alongside K'Sante, Wukong, Jhin, and Rell so the Worlds squad wielding the lineup could bring some ability power to bear in-play.

Presently, this specific composition hasn't appeared at Worlds yet. It does make complete sense though considering how strong each of the individual pieces are. With LoL drafts bouncing between rosters choosing champs, one side getting every part of the puzzle stands at long odds.

To today, the closest any team came was GAM playing Aurora, Wukong, Yone, Jhin, and Leona against Fukoka Softbank HAWKS in the opening round of Play-Ins. PaiN Gaming also took K'Sante, Wukong, Ahri, Kalista, and Rell into the game they eventually won to make the Swiss stage.

A squad could see the stars align with this comp locked-in during Swiss, though the meta may instead evolve beyond this as more teams join the Worlds fray.

Worlds 2024 continues shortly with the Swiss Stage from Thursday, Oct. 3.
