G2 helped T1 prepare for the World 2024 Finals before facing them in the deciding revenge match in December.

T1 was crowned the Worlds 2024 champion, securing their fifth Worlds trophy after a close 3-2 series against LPL first seed Bilibili Gaming. While the victory is undeniably the result of the players and coaching staff's hard work, T1 General Manager Jeong "Becker" Hoi-yoon revealed that it was also thanks to G2 Esports' contribution behind the scenes.

Becker posted on his personal X account a day after T1's victory, revealing that G2 Esports and some other unnamed players had been helping T1 with scrims to prepare for the Finals. He thanked G2 Esports for their support, which was met with congratulations from the LEC team.

In late September, Becker also expressed gratitude toward G2 Esports for allowing T1 to practice at G2's facility. This likely occurred while both teams were preparing for the Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage in Berlin, the home city of G2 Esports. T1 and G2 have a long history of supporting each other with scrims whenever both teams qualify for international tournaments.

Additionally, the community had previously speculated that T1's Nocturne, Ornn, and Kalista picks in Match 2 were strategies that emerged from scrimming with G2, which was later confirmed by the LEC team.

A T1 vs G2 rematch is set for December

G2 was defeated by T1 in the Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Round 4, but a chance for a revenge match is happening sooner than expected. Both teams, sponsored by Red Bull, will reunite at Red Bull's annual League of Legends event. Red Bull League of Its Own will happen on Dec. 15 at Accor Arena in Paris, France.

Last year, T1 was invited to play a series of show matches against European teams: BIG, NNO Old, Karmine Korp, Team Heretics, and G2 Esports. T1 managed to defeat four teams before falling to G2 Esports. This year, the stakes are higher than ever as more teams have joined the lineup.

In previous years, a special rule was implemented for the World Champion, locking them out of all champions that had previously entered the Rift — except during the Grand Final match against G2. This meant that T1's champion pool was restricted in every match.

It was exciting to see T1 showcase picks like top Volibear, bot Cho'Gath, and support Caitlyn — champions that are less commonly seen in the meta. Of course, fans are hoping for a similar spectacle during this year's Red Bull event.
