LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage: Day 2 schedule and format
As you can see from the bracket below, on the second day of the Swiss Stage - Oct. 4 - we will have the teams who won their games against one other (1-0), while the teams who've lost, will play against each other (0-1). Theoretically, this system will benefit the weaker teams by giving them more chances to win by playing only one game.
The draw happened after the last match from the Play-Ins between 100 Thieves and PSG Talon on Sept. 29 in the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany. The Swiss Stage matches will also be played there.

The best matches of LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Day 2
Following so many matches during one day can be an exhausting task. In that case, we selected four matches that promise to be the most impactful matches of the second day of the LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage.
- Bilibili Gaming vs LNG Esports
The mainland of China is a place where League of Legends is played between titans. The winner of LPL, BLG, against the third seed, LNG. After a stomp against the MAD Lions, BLG is coming to conquer one more spot. LNG, now with Scout back on track, wants to do more than a third place and prove its value. Who's going to be the king of China?
- Gen.G vs Top Esports
LCK vs LPL - the best two leagues in the world in a distinguished battle for the supremacy of League of Legends. The MSI 2024 winner, Gen.G, is against the second place of League of Legends Pro League (LPL) Top Esports, in a game that promises to be one of the best of the day. In the last time, at MSI 2024, Gen.G was superior and won the game in the upper bracket. Will Top Esports be able to avenge that day?
- G2 Esports vs Hanwha Life
The winner of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) will now be facing the winner of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC), G2 Esports. Will G2 be able to prove the power of the European League of Legends? Even though it's not the most intense battle of this day, both Hanwha Life and G2 Esports came to give fans a great match.
- Team Liquid vs Weibo Gaming
North America versus China is not a usual battle in League of Legends, but this one is going to be interesting. Team Liquid, the second place in the League Championship Series (LCS), and the fourth Chinese team to qualify for this LoL Worlds 2024, Weibo Gaming, will be fighting not to lose again in the Swiss Stage and be closer to going home. Match Recap: Victory for LNG
The first game of the day was a battle between two Chinese titans. With a lot of tension and a balanced game, the game was very unpredictable, anyone could win. The first intense fight came with the first three void groups. When the fight was looking good for LNG, Bin's K'Sante was unbelievably tanky and Elk's damage was superior. BLG seemed to have a grip on the game. Bin and Elk combo and the well approach of the meta, was giving a great advantage for BLG.
And when no one was expecting it, LNG' Scout does a miracle - with a sick Yone's play and an ultimate on three BLG players, Scout changed the whole game for LNG. With a simple play, Scout made the whole difference in the LoL Worlds 2024 with the play that paved the way for LNG's victory.
"Actually, with the issues [with Scout] we had no idea if Scout would be able to participate in Worlds 2024. But we solve these problems and now we are really cherish and value this opoortunity."
Scout was unstoppable, taking advantage of BLG's loss of concentration. With a huge engage from Weiwei's Nocturne and Zika's Rumble, and Bin's out due to Poppy's ultimate, LNG paved their way to success. Hang's Poppy baited the play, BLG lost the grip of the game and LNG won with a lot of class. What an incredible game from both teams!

Match Recap: Victory for Gen.G
The second battle of the day: Titans against Titans. This LoL Worlds game featured no lane swap, so a bot lane fight didn't provide a significant advantage to either team. But in the void grubs fight, Top Esports overstayed and GenG engaged in them resulting in a double kill for Chovy's Yone. The side lane control was pretty good for TES, guaranteeing some advantage, but GenG was finding the perfect picks all around the map.
Without vision, TES simply won a huge fight. This game started to look more balanced, a game of patience. But a game between the #1 and the #4 place on world raking is a totally different moment. The fights started in the most unpredictable places. When we thought the game was moving in a team's direction, the other team changed everything. There's not a better expression to reflect this match: an absolute League of Legends masterclass.
In one fight, Gen.G changed the game with an incredible utilization of macro knowledge. TES even tried a great pick, but Gen.G was in control. Chovy's Yone was so intimidated that took advantage of the Korean team.
"I'm really glad we've got two wins so far, I'm speacilly happy about how we performed today, they were little mistakes, but I'm overall very happy."
The Lehends work as support was unbelievably good by removing all the possible vision from the enemy team into the Braon's pit. The coordination of Gen.G was deadly for TES and the 18-year-old ADC Peyz was a beast. The game was over for TES. Gen.G was the victorious team.
G2 Esports vs. Hanwha Life

Match Recap: Victory for Hanwha Life
Europe vs Korea - the chance for G2 Esports to prove the European League of Legends power. Both teams were playing safely, without a lot of confrontations, just trying to make objectives. Until Caps' Yone dies in the mid lane surrounded by four HLE players. HLE had great picks, but G2 wasn't able to recover from the Korean team's oppression.
In a great top-lane fight for G2 and with Baron done, G2 seemed to regain some confidence. HLE was still controlling the game with a super fed-up Smolder full of stacks. Zeka was turning that Smolder into a monster.
"First of all, I think we did get excited cause we had a big lead early and mid-game and things can happen on the mid game. What really matters is how we deal them so I want to make sure it doesn't happen again. Also, speaking of Zeka, I think our playstyle is very similar, we have a great team work, he's a great player and maybe that's why he won a Worlds."
And out of a sudden, G2 changed the game to a baron fight. The mid-tower went down and Europe started to believe in a comeback. G2 was starting to gain some confidence, but HLE was not giving up too soon.
The tension was unbelievable, Caps was trying everything in the side lanes. And out of nowhere, BrokenBlade's Lilia jumps into the pit and steals the baron from HLE. G2 was starting to really believe in a victory. This was one hell of a match, the emotions were high. Even with all the efforts to win, G2 couldn't change their fate and Hanwha Life won the game. This was probably was of the best matches of the day.
Weibo Gaming vs Team Liquid
Weibo Gaming Bans Team Liquid Bans | Ziggs, Aurora, Rumble, K'Sante, Poppy Ashe, Yone, Vi, LeBlanc, Jax |
Weibo Gaming Picks Weibo Gaming Player Position Team Liquid Player Team Liquid Picks | Gnar Breathe Top Impact Renekton | Skarner Tarzan Jungle UmTi Sejuani | Orianna Xiaohu Mid APA Syndra | Kalista Light Bot Yeon Lucian | Renata Glasc Crisp Support CoreJJ Nami |
Match Recap: Victory for Weibo Gaming
In the first three minutes of this match, all we could see was fights. Players without spells, no one was dying until Breathe's Gnar, which was supposed not to win the trades against a Renekton, killed Impact on the lane. Weibo was controlling the early game, picking kills across the map. Team Liquid was having a rough time.
"We needed to take the game to late game because we made some mistakes on the early game. But after that, it felt like we really need to concentrate more in the actual game. I like to say to my team mates: "It's a hard time but keep going. Fighting!"
Weibo was playing mind games, playing with Team Liquid's patience. And in a bad approach from Weibo Gaming, Team Liquid gets great kills and starts to regain confidence and control of the game. Team Liquid started to collect kills everywhere on the map, changing the odds. APA' Syndra was giving so much damage, it was insane!
We started to see a lot of growth in TL's gameplay. This was a great performance from Team Liquid, they were gaining the mid, obligating Weibo to retreat and even did Drake - everything was looking good for the North American team. But with a great pick from Weibo, TL was obligated to watch the Chinese team do Baron. The macro of Team Liquid was great, but that moment destabilized the game. Weibo broke TL's base and with a lot of confidence, ended up the game. It was a nice try from Team Liquid!
The four teams with two consecutive victories will be playing on Oct. 5 best-of-three (Bo3) games against each other. The first match is scheduled for 2 p.m. CEST / 5 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. ET and the second one for 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET.
That's all for now. Stick around for more updates on LoL Worlds 2024 and more on esports.gg.
