At 36, the League of Legends community bids farewell to Shushei, a pioneering figure whose legacy shaped the game’s early days.
Maciej "Shushei" Ratuszniak was a retired League of Legends Polish pro-player who stood out for his incredible plays with Gragas and Allistar early in his career, popularizing the use of those champions as AP carries. The Season 1 World Champion for Fnatic passed away on April 28 at 36 years old.

Shushei was a pioneer of various trends in League of Legends. He played a key role in introducing the double-AP meta during Season 2. He was also one of the first players to utilize Vi and AP Evelynn in competitive play. Shushei consistently sought new ways to make League of Legends more interesting. At the inaugural World Championship, he won with FNATIC and was awarded the MVP title. On April 28, the League of Legends community lost a legend. According to his sister on Facebook, he was fighting against cancer. Shushei passed away at 36 years old.
FNATIC has expressed its condolences to Shushei's friends and family during this difficult time. "Shushei was part of the incredible Fnatic team that won the first ever League of Legends World Championships back in 2011, that begun the Fnatic LoL fandom for so many of our fans", FNATIC wrote on X. They also changed their banner for the iconic Shushei Gragas skin that we received after winning the Season 1 World Championship.

The funeral will take place on May 5 at the chapel at the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection of the Lord in Bydgoszcz, Poland, as his sister shared on Facebook.
