What happened to Heimerdinger in Arcane Episode 7: Lore explained

The last Act of Arcane dropped on November 23 with three more episodes and the end of one of the best animation series, according to the Emmy Awards. Many events happened, and many people died. But did Heimerdinger really die in Arcane?

In episode seven, we see Ekko and Heimerdinger being transported to another universe - the "multiverse", a premise that says we exist in various versions, in different timelines, in multiple universes (we just don't know each other). Many movies and shows have been diving into this premise, and Arcane was not going to stay behind.

Ekko appears not only with totally different clothing but also a different life. A life working in science with Powder - Jinx did not exist in this universe - and his friends Mylo and Clogger in a grow-up version - that also does not exist because they died in the first Arcane Act. Even though it was the kind of life he dreamed of, full of science, love, and machines, that was not Ekko's universe. He needed to return to save the world.

Now, Heimerdinger, Powder, and Ekko worked non-stop to build a way for Ekko and Heimerdinger to return home. It's not clear if Powder knows exactly the purpose of that machine, but she knows it's a time machine that can go back in time - four seconds only. For Powder, that was the machine they were going to show everyone at the "invention party".

While Ekko and Powder went to the party, and we had the chance to see how their romance would be in another universe, Heimerdinger took the chance to improve the machine and finish the job. It's a beautiful moment between Ekko and the Zaun people. We get the chance to see Vander, Benzo, Silco, Mylo, Clogger, and even Powder, and how their lives could be totally different from the main events.

"I must say that since I've met you, lad, I've truly lived" and after that, Heimerdinger gets out of the portal to connect the cables, push all the levers, and finally send Ekko back to their universe. His last words sounded like a sacrifice. Powder enters the room and witnesses everything.

As for Heimerdinger, the last thing we see from the great scientist is his "sacrifice" to let Ekko go back in time and save the world - what he actually did by punching Viktor. We see Heimerdinger vanishing into the air, and he never comes back for the rest of the series so is he dead? Or did just disappear?

In League of Legends lore, Heimerdinger is a yordle. They're a "race of spirits who generally take the appearance of mammalian bipeds", as we can read from the League explanation. "They mostly reside in a mystical place known as Bandle City, though some of them have ventured out to live in numerous locations around Runeterra".

If you played League of Legends before, champions like Heimerdinger, Teemo, Tristana, Amumu, Lulu, Corki, Ziggs, Rumble, and many more, are yordles. You can distinguish them by their small size. Yordles are a special species: they don't age and they can't actually die.

If Arcane is following, in some way, parts of the League of Legends lore, it's very possible that Heimerdinger did not die in Arcane, he probably just respawned on the Bundle City. However, we cannot prove any of this and, for all that matters, we don't see Heimer die in the show - we see him disappear. There's still a possibility that, somehow, he could have been transported somewhere else.

Many fans on X are commenting about a chance for Riot Games to do a spin-off or even a show about the yordles and Heimer's return to Bundle City.
