Impact is parting ways with Team Liquid. In his farewell video, he shared that he needs time to reset and focus on his mental health.

Jeong “Impact” Eon-young first spent three years with Team Liquid before deciding to explore new opportunities with Evil Geniuses and later FlyQuest. In 2023, he returned to the horses, holding down the top lane for nearly two years. Now, Impact bids farewell once again, this time stepping back to prioritize his mental health.

Impact leaves Team Liquid

In a heartfelt video, Impact reflected on a year where his performance fell short of his goals. Despite the struggles, he shared that he still holds many fond memories of unique moments with the horses, memories he says he will never forget. For now, he will take a step back for a few months to rest and reflect on his future. After facing both a difficult personal period and the team’s disappointing results, Impact felt it was the right time to pause and reconsider his goals. “I’m not having fun,” he admitted.

Impact carries a 13-year-old career with passages through Xenics Storm, SK Telecom T1, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, FlyQuest, and Team Liquid. In the past decade, he has only played in the NA region. The top laner won the LoL Worlds 2013 (with SK Telecom T1) and eight domestic titles.

Mental health and reset

Following the farewell video, Impact came on X to share more thoughts on his situation. "This year, I did get one win, but honestly, it felt more like luck. After that, things went downhill for both the team and me. I lost a lot of confidence, and when that happened, my play just kept getting worse. It’s been a really rough year, one I never want to go through again," he reflected.

He added, "I know I need some time. I want to take care of my mental health and my body, and really think about what I want to do next year. If I do retire one day, I want to do it with a smile, not with regret." As the player said, this is not a retirement plan; it's a pause to rethink his life goals.
