Arcane is now canon in League of Legends lore. Many champions, like Blitzcrank, can change to be non-canon due to that change.

As Riot Games announced, Arcane is now canon in League of Legends lore, which means that it "really happened within the fictional reality of the franchise." But, by making Arcane canon, Riot Games is letting the fates of some champions unknown, such as Blitzcrank, Viktor's invention. Many fans are starting to speculate that Blitz will no longer be canon after the show events. For those who don't play League of Legends, let's dive into the Blitzcrank lore.

Blitzcrank, "The Great Steam Golem"

Zaun, as we know from Arcane, was once a quiet place and a vibrant city. But, the city started to fall into a wave of destruction and suffering after the invasion of the corrosive grasp. Scientists built some machines to help remove toxic waste, and others, like Viktor, built a robot to help people. Viktor discovered an abandoned golem and, after a series of experiments, created a machine with Hextech - Blitzcrank.

The machine proved to be capable of learning, something that Viktor never saw in his life. Blitz improved, interpreted, and extrapolated daily directives. Blitzcrank would now go to the city to interact with people, and serve them with what he can, bringing toys to the kids as we see in The Victorious Skin.

Not everything was perfect - Blitzcrank lacked moderation and nuance. He would do everything with much effort he could, including destroying doors when someone told him that lost a key or tearing an entire factory apart (ups). When Viktor ordered it to discover the source of the toxic chemicals and eliminate them, Blitzcrank assumed it was supposed to destroy the whole factory. The factory's owner is unknown, but it's believed to be Renata Glasc who ordered Viktor to destroy the machine.

When Viktor reached his lab, devastated, Blitzcrank was already gone. Blitz grew beyond his original program and became self-sufficient. He decided he was going to be independent from his creator and upgrade himself to become a better version.

Is Blitzcrank no longer canon after Arcane?

Some fans believe that, at another time, Jayce and Viktor will return to Zaun and eventually build Blitzcrank, just like Viktor did in the original lore. Others think that, just like the creators included Orianna at the end of Arcane, they might be able to include Blitzcrank in another show. Other fans asked Riot to rework Blitz and to make Ekko build him lore-wise.

After Arcane, Blitzcrank could not be canon anymore, at least not created by Viktor since that would be very unlikely due to the Arcane Act 3 events. Will Blitz be even built? Who will help the Zaunites now? If Viktor never finds the Blitz pieces, we won't be able to see their super cute interactions like father and son just like we see from the Riot Games comics. However, many fans already accept that Blitz won't be canon anymore after the end of the show.

There is no information about this, but Riot Games will likely have to adapt some champion lore to the new developments of Arcane.
