One of the teams qualified for MSI shocked the LoL community with their excellent performance at the First Stand. The other has a deep history of upsetting big opponents.
League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) is a freshly formed region on the global competitive scene. In 2025 and further, League of Legends (LoL) teams from the Vietnamese, Japanese, and Pacific Championships compete in the combined LCP.
At the Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI 2025) event, the region is represented by two teams. CTBC Flying Oyster won the LCP 2025 Mid Season, so they start with the Bracket Stage. GAM Esports finished the regional season second, so they should make it through the MSI Play-In Stage.
It’s interesting to get to know these LCP teams at MSI 2025 better. Both are pretty important for the international LoL esports competition.
CTBC Flying Oyster at MSI 2025: Sensation of the First Stand
Since 2022, when CTBC Flying Oyster was formed in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), this LoL team has been on the top of the regional competition.
CTBC Flying Oyster, or CFO, won their very first Simmer split and achieved this placement in Spring 2024. The other splits brought the top 3–4 placements for CFO.
Advancing to the LCP era turned out to be beneficial for the Flying Oyster. They won the LCP 2025 Season Kickoff to qualify for the First Stand 2025 (FST 2025). They keep the top spot at the LCP 2025 Mid Season Split 2 scene.
CFO’s results on the international scene weren't that impressive. The team was 11th–14th and 19th–20th at the League of Legends World Championships in 2022 and 2023. They were absent at the MSI and Worlds in 2024.
FST 2025 became a great milestone for CTBC Flying Oyster. Not only did they represent LCP as the winners, but the team also achieved some pretty big victories — including over Top Esports, the LPL representatives.
CTBC Flying Oyster finished 3rd–4th at the FST 2025. The global community was positively impressed, and now we all look forward to seeing CFO playing at MSI 2025.

GAM Esports at MSI 2025: A tradition of upsetting big opponents
The team strongly dominated the LoL Vietnamese Championship Series — up to the formation of the LCP in 2025. GAM Esports won most splits there, with no 2nd placements starting from 2022.
With Riot Games combining the Asia-Pacific teams into one region, there were some concerns about the future of GAM. Specifically, the community was worried about international qualifications. With LCP 2025 Mid Season, GAM Esports proved they are strong enough to beat opponents from other sub-regions.
To qualify for MSI 2025, GAM defeated such opponents as Vikings Esports and TALON. These teams are known for their international presence as well.
Beyond their home region, GAM Esports has the reputation of being surprisingly strong underdogs. Big LoL esports teams often fell victim to the Vietnamese players. That happened at Worlds 2022, where GAM defeated Top Esports, and Worlds 2024, where GAM eliminated MAD Lions KOI.
GAM couldn’t qualify for the FST 2025, as TALON eliminated them from the LCP Season Kickoff 2025. The regional Split 2 finished differently, and it’s great to see GAM Esports attending MSI again.
GAM roster for MSI
The team signed two new players at the beginning and two at the end of 2024. The key GAM players are Kiaya and Levi, who have been part of the roster since 2018 and 2019.

In general, both GAM and CFO are not considered favorites at MSI 2025. Their underdog power may surprise everyone, though. Even T1 shouldn’t underestimate these opponents.
