Cassiopeia is getting a passive update that finally lets her purchase boots like every other champion in League of Legends.
This is not a drill. Cassiopeia will not get feet in 2026, but you will be able to build boots on her as her new passive will arrive on Summoner's Rift. Cassiopeia joins the new League of Legends icons, map changes, and more coming next year!
Cassiopeia's boots are made for walking!
League of Legends is set for major changes in 2026, with many updates planned for the game. One of them will be Cassiopeia's passive. If you're new to the game, the mid laner hasn't built boots since 2016. Riot removed it because Cassiopeia’s current kit gives her bonus movement speed based on level, but doesn’t let her buy boots.
In 2026, this will no longer happen. Cassiopeia, who was the only champion that could not purchase boots in the game, will now be able to do it. On Dec. 8, her new passive hit the Public Beta Environment (PBE). In the upcoming patch notes, her new passive will be: "Cassiopeia increases the effectiveness of all Move Sped bonuses by 6% = (6% - 40%) based on level."
This update will also allow her to benefit from the new quests that will be available in 2026. Mid laners will receive a free tier-3 boots upgrade and unlock an empowered four-second recall for the rest of the match once they complete their quest. However, we still don’t have enough information to determine whether these changes will make her stronger.
When will the update be available?
Cassiopeia's passive upgrade will be officially released in the LoL patch notes 26.01. They are set to release on Jan. 8, 2026. Our beautiful serpent will have her boots back, but only after the new year. You'll need to wait a little bit longer to test her new passive.
