It’s a harsh elimination match! Bilibili Gaming and G2 Esports battle for a spot in the semifinal.

Two European League of Legends (LoL) teams had to make it through the intense Group Stage to reach the quarterfinals at the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025). G2 did it pretty successfully with two wins in two matches. However, some may doubt their true power — defeating the North and South American representatives is not the same as facing the might of the Eastern regions.

Bilibili Gaming (BLG) start their EWC run with the playoffs, and they should be pretty comfortable with such a matchup. BLG have a good experience of ruining G2’s hopes and dreams. LoL esports is wonderfully unpredictable, though. European fans sure have their fingers crossed for some great matches!

Match recap

The European fans can be happy with the match result and with how G2 generally played against BLG. Even if they lost Game 1, they had good chances — only a great Baron steal by knight destroyed that attempt.

After that, G2 Esports surprisingly dominated the map and team fights. They left no space for their opponents to recover. This win creates hope for further tournament success!

G2 advance to the semifinal. BLG are eliminated from the LoL Esports World Cup 2025 event.

Game 1

G2 had a really good chance to win this game thanks to the power of Hans Sama’s Xayah. The ADC ate so many kills and looked unstoppable!

BLG went from the First Kill and the first Dragon to losing random fights and objectives.

The situation changed drastically around a Baron fight. G2 players thought they had it in the bag, but knight just rushed forward and stole the huge worm. A Dragon came right after that for BLG, and they started snowballing toward success.

One specific combo worked great for BLG in this LoL EWC 2025 quarterfinal game . Nocturne and Orianna initiated fights with massive damage, and then the team tried to seal the deal. It worked great to finally kill Xayah and take his advantage away.

After another set of Baron and a Dragon, BLG started their siege and won the game.

Game 2

Thanks to an early gank, G2 earned the First Blood, and that kill fell for Hans Sama again. In the following relatively slow period, G2 managed to earn a nice gold lead thanks to their farming efforts.

The first signs of domination were obvious when BrokenBlade won a 1v1 against Bin. He remained a menace until the end. BLG did not find anything in attempts at team fights. G2, on the other hand, started earning kills one after another — objectives came with them as well.

BLG had some good moments, but G2 demonstrated miracles of good positioning. That brought the EU team more kills and more power. They took Atakhan and Baron to continue their pressure and eventually bring the match score against BLG to 1-1.

Game 3

G2 started this game with a couple of early kills. One of them was pretty weird for BLG, as Beichuan teleported toward the wrong side of the map.

Both teams were pretty aggressive in this decisive game of the League of Legends at the EWC 2025 quarterfinal. G2 started earning a small advantage, which eventually snowballed into an impressive dominance. Trundle of SkewMond was awesomely strong, and Caps on LeBlanc had a great game.

BLG tried to respond with good team collapses that brought them kills and resources. Still, it felt like the Chinese team made too many mistakes, like choosing wrong targets.

G2 accumulated enough power to secure Baron with no steals this time. They won a big team fight again and destroyed BLG’s Nexus.

Worlds 2024 and MSI 2025 memories: BLG and G2 rivalry

During the League of Legends 2024 World Championship, G2 and BLG had an important match. Well, it did not go too well for G2.

The teams played in the Swiss Stage, and G2 had a nice start with 2-1 in the general score. Then, they lost to T1 and had BLG as a final opponent. It was Bilibili Gaming who advanced to the Knockout Stage.

Objectively, G2 looked great in that match! They won Game 2 and had a super close battle in Game 3. However, people tend to remember the winners.

During the most recent League of Legends international event, Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI 2025), BLG mercilessly destroyed G2 in the Play-In Stage. Bilibili Gaming won 3-0 and sent G2 to the lower brackets — they got eliminated in the next match against GAM Esports.

The second European team in the quarterfinals of the LoL EWC 2025 event is KOI. They play against T1 on July 18. The tournament’s grand final is on July 20.
