“Bandle Scout Teemo, reporting for duty!” Our yordle is getting a rework after 15 years. Here are the details!

Teemo is an old League of Legends (LoL) character with 15 years of existence in the video game. This new rework is mostly visual, and the splash art for every skin was released by the LoL account on the Chinese app Weibo. This Art and Sustainability Update (ASU) will launch with patch 14.20 on Oct. 9.

These new visual changes on Teemo were announced at the beginning of the year. Slightly longer limbs will make him look taller. However, he will still retain some of that "round yordle fluffiness," according to concept artist Megan "Ze Ocelot" O'Rourke in a 2023 update. The old Teemo wasn't bad, but this Teemo will have more details and accessories. The champion's colors and values will be adjusted as well, for example.

There will also be reworks on Teemo's facial expressions, movements, silhouette, personality, and more! One of the goals was to give more yordle characteristics to Teemo that were lacking compared to other champions like Heimerdinger, Vex, and Tristana. Some voice lines will change as well as in-game animations. You can see all of the changes on Teemo with more details here.

In terms of the remaining skins, the changes are very discreet — most of them feature adjustments in saturation, color vibrancy, and Teemo's size in the splash art. Similar to Lee Sin's rework, the price of the Happy Elf, Recon, and Badger skins will be increased to 750 RP due to their increased quality. If you don't own the originals, you can purchase them for just 520 RP before the update goes live, and you'll receive the skin updates for free.

Changes to Teemo's lore

Another intriguing aspect of the rework will be Teemo's updated lore. The developers talked about changing outdated lore in the game — with Teemo's being one of them. n the original lore, Teemo had a warm personality but a violent side in combat. He was an efficient killer, detached from the emotional toll of his actions. When on a mission, he was considered one of the most dangerous yordles alive.

Even though the lore was interesting and pretty much represented Teemo players, the new lore will change that aggressive personality, turning Teemo more into what people associate with him: a warm soul, a yordle that wants to help everyone, and a champion who wants to be honest, brave, and kind.

The goal was to make Teemo more canonically accurate and end the idea that the Bandle Scouts were a military institution instead of a typical American-style institution focused on selling cookies, camping outside, and learning new skills.

"Our modern Teemo is very much a scout troop leader, and making that clear makes his relationship to Runeterra a lot clearer too," narrative writer River “Riot TenPaces” Jaffe explained.
