“At least I have chicken!”

It's April Fools' Day, and Hearthstone just made a hilarious prank announcement. Instead of continuing with the Year of the Raptor, 2025 has become the Year of the Chicken!

Hearthstone enters Year of the Chicken with Leeroy Jenkins

Hearthstone's April Fools' Day post pays tribute to Leeroy Jenkins with mythic hero skins for each class. For those who don't remember, Leeroy Jenkins became a legend and meme over the years. About 20 years ago, members of the PALS FOR LIFE guild were discussing a game plan for the Rookery when player Ben Schulz suddenly said, "Time's up. Let's do this!" He then charged into the area while shouting the iconic "Leeroooooy Jeeeenkiiiiins!" line.

The guild got swarmed by dragon whelps since the eggs hatched due to proximity. Leeroy Jenkins continued to pull aggro while some guild members tried to stick to the original plan. However, it was to no avail. After the wipe, the PALS FOR LIFE members continued to call the player out on his recklessness. In response, Leeroy Jenkins said, "At least I have chicken."

Aside from Hearthstone's 2025 April Fools' Day post, Leeroy Jenkins is actually a card in the game. At the time of publishing this article, he's a 4-mana 6/2 legendary neutral minion. His keywords are, of course, Charge and Battlecry. He even summons two 1/1 Whelps for his opponent!

When you play him on the board, he has the "Leeroooooy Jeeeenkiiiiins!" voice line. Then, when you attack with him thanks to Charge, he says, "Time's up! Let's do this." Finally, upon death, he says, "At least I have chicken."

Hearthstone April Fools' Day shenanigans

The Hearthstone Year of the Chicken announcement also goes into other April Fools' Day shenanigans. For example, Shudderblock can now deal damage to an opponent if asked nicely, Battlegrounds Duos now supports splitscreen, and Zilliax Deluxe 3000 is now Zilliax D-UST 1600!
