Halo Infinite to get its own tactical shooter mode called S&D Extraction later this year

The new S&D Extraction mode is coming to Halo Infinite later in 2025. It is said to be a new competitive mode, which more than likely means it will be added to ranked gameplay as well as official HCS competitions.

Everything they shared is still a work in progress, but we've got some good details on it. Let's go over what exactly you can expect from this new mode.

The developers at Halo Studios said it themselves. S&D Extraction is the game's take on the tactical shooter, like you'd find in Call of Duty's Search & Destroy, or the bombsite objective gameplay found in the likes of VALORANT and Counter-Strike.

The mode will see two teams of four battle on asymmetrical maps. Players get one life per round, but can buy back into a round, and it goes to a best of 11 count. This means the first to six wins. Alternate back and forth between offense and defense, and utilize an economy system to gear up.

There will be your typical A and B sites in Halo Infinite's S&D Extraction. The goal is plant extraction devices there and defend them until they detonate or defuse them if you're on defense. Or eliminate the other team first to win a round.

The catch here is that there is no bomb to carry or pick up if the teammate with it is defeated. You simply just fight your way to the bombsite and are prompted to plant an extraction device that every attacking player has. The defense has one minute to defuse the device.

The Bandit EVO is the starter weapon for every. At the beginning of each round, you can use the mode's buy system. The buy phase is 30 seconds and has all of the goodies you can imagine in Halo Infinite. Get credits by winning rounds, eliminating enemies, and planting the extraction device.
