Lantern Rite Festival 2025: events, characters, outfits, and more

Every year, Asia celebrates the New Lunar Year, the beginning of a new year based on lunar calendars. In many video games, especially the ones created by Chinese companies, we see events and celebrations of the new year. In 2025, will happen on January 29.

Since 2020, when Genshin Impact was launched, we have had the opportunity to play the Lantern Rite Festival in honor of this moment of the year. We can play different mini-games, gain some goodies, and have fun during a beautiful and luminous event. What can we expect from this year's event?

There is still no official date, but since the New Lunar Year begins on January 29, we can expect the event to start during the second phase of version 5.3 which starts on January 21.

It is common for miHoYo to give some wishes during this event. During the event, whenever you log in, you can receive up to ten wishes and some ascension materials as well as mora. Via email, you can claim 1600 primogems.

This year we have a huge surprise: a five-star Chronicled Wish banner. Some people were very shocked when this information was leaked, but it's a fact. You will be able to choose one of these characters: Baizhu, Shenhe, Kequing, Ganyu, Xiao, Tartaglia, and Qiqi.

The Chronicled banner will be released on January 21 and will be available until February 10. The second banner, for the respective signature weapons, will also be available during this time.

This is a great opportunity for fans who have been asking for reruns of certain characters like Shenhe and Ganyu and even get the chance to get their respective weapons.

During the Lanter Rite Festival, you'll come across many quests, mini-games, challenges, and duels to earn mora, ascension, and talents materials, primogems, and a crown. At a certain point, when you complete the event, you'll be able to collect the Xiangling new outfit, "New Year's Cheer".

To have the Xiangling outfit, you need to play the event and meet the prerequisites. If you miss the 5.3 Lantern Rite Festival of Genshin during the time it will be up, you'll have to pay to have the outfit.

Just like the Liyue Chronicled Wish event, you'll also be able to invite a four-star. Either choose one that you still don't have or take the opportunity to gather that C6 that never came! The only thing you need to do is play the event.

Between the possibilities, you'll meet Lan Yan, the first anemo shielder coming to Genshin Impact so don't waste your chance to get her during the Lanter Rite Festival.
