An Until Dawn movie, based on the game, is coming soon

The hit horror game Until Dawn is getting its own movie adaptation. Directing the film is David F. Sandberg, who did both Shazam movies, as well as Annabelle: Creation. The PlayStation exclusive game first came out in 2015 to massive praise from audiences and critics alike while also featuring a star-studded cast. 

Until Dawn is memorable for its 'Butterfly Effect System.' Any decision made in the game--across eight playable characters--would impact future events and change the outcome of the story. Choices from early on in the game, like checking a friend’s phone when they’re not looking, could affect whether your favorite character lived or died in the finale.

The game also featured notable actors for its cast of horror movie characters, like Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and Peter Stormare. The actor’s likeness was fully used in Until Dawn, giving gamers what was then a unique experience in a video game.

It’s safe to say that the movie plot will most likely follow the “true” ending of the game. The one in which all of the playable characters survive and all of the plot points are fully discovered. To avoid major spoilers for Until Dawn, we’ll just say that the game has the perfect plot for a horror movie. The game starts as a standard horror movie anyway, so it has the ideal set up.

Eight sexy young adults, all romantically paired up and with their own dramas, are ready to party in a remote location. On the anniversary of the tragic deaths of one party member’s sisters, because why wouldn’t they be! However not is all as it seems as the group discovers the abandoned mine near their cabin and soon learn that they’re not alone on the mountain.

We'll stop explaining the plot there to avoid spoilers. If you have a PlayStation, this is definitely a game you should experience for yourself.

So far, there’s no official casting news for the Until Dawn movie. However, the movie is in the unique position of being able to cast the exact actors used in the game, since all of them are already movie and TV actors.
