Skull and Bones partners with Oceana for the Waves of Change challenge

A Skull and Bones x Oceana initiative known as Waves of Change sees donations to the ocean protection organization for every enemy sunk.

Skull and Bones takes place in the Indian Ocean. You pirate your ship across it, plundering, looting, and sinking enemies. For a short time, however, your pirating in Skull and Bones can make a difference due to their partnership with Oceana.

To end the month of March, Ubisoft is donating money to Oceana in a quest to restore the world's oceans. You can contribute just by playing the game and sinking the various foes from the Fleet of Pestilence.

Skull and Bones x Oceana - Waves of Change

The event takes place from March 18 to March 31. Called the Waves of Change challenge, players in Skull and Bones will help raise funds for Oceana. To protect the world's oceans, a fundraising goal has been set of 300,000€.

A tracker is available on the official Waves of Change charity website. It states that they'll refresh the data once a day, so you can check in to see how far along the donations have come. It also lists the following point system:

  • Headhunters = 1 Point
  • Skirmishers - 5 Points
  • La Peste = 30 Points

As the points go up, so does the money donated by Ubisoft to Oceana through Skull and Bones. It is a charitable cause and not often one seen connected to a video game like this.

So, how can you contribute to the Skull and Bones x Oceana initiative? While Waves of Change is active, just play Skull and Bones and sink some enemy ships. Set sail and track down the Headhunters and Skirmishers to add points to the total. You can even contribute through the game's free trial period.

If you want to make the most of your time playing, challenge Philippe La Peste in the Tides of War World Event. This is when the Plague King appears on the map, in a co-operative battle that any player can join. Sink him to add some major points to the tracker.
