The new Razer Viper V4 Pro is touted as the choice of champions. We put it to the test to see what makes it stand out.

Designed with input from professional esports players such as Lee “Faker” Sang-Hyeok and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, the Razer Viper V4 Pro is now available to everyone. It has an ultra-lightweight design, a low-latency wireless system, an advanced sensor, upgraded optical mouse switches, and so much more. Esports.gg received the Razer Viper V4 Pro for review. Razer Viper V4 Pro review and features

Upon unboxing the Razer Viper V4 Pro, one of the first things that stands out is its lightweight feel. The mouse weighs about 49 g to 50 g compared to the Razer Viper V3 Pro at 54 g to 55 g. It’s a subtle difference, but players coming from heavier mice from other brands may notice it as an improvement.

When paired with a Razer Gigantus V2 Pro mouse mat, the skates of the new mouse glide smoothly with great control as well. Gameplay is further improved by Razer’s frame sync feature, which matches our mouse inputs with our PC’s frame timing to reduce small delays and keep our aim consistent. The 8000 Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes doesn’t hurt in improving responsiveness and input accuracy, either.

Speaking of the wireless mode, the dongle included in the box uses HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 technology. The dongle’s LED indicators are quite useful as we can quickly glance at it for information about our connection strength, battery status, and polling rate.

No more double-clicking

Adding to these features is Razer’s optical mouse switches. The Gen 4 optical switches use light-based actuation instead of metal contacts. This removes debounce delay and reduces mechanical wear. When duking it out as aim-intensive heroes, the Razer Viper V4 Pro can be trusted for its clicks to register cleanly. This negates accidental double-clicks or other mis-clicks when timing and ammo matter most. According to Razer, the upgrade from Gen 3 to Gen 4 also means a 100-million click lifecycle.

Another feature to note is the Razer Viper V4 Pro’s side buttons. One of them is bound to our quick melee button in Overwatch, and the position feels natural and comes in clutch during fights.
