A cryptic post from ATLUS is teasing the upcoming global release of the spin-off game Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Persona 5: The Phantom X, a spin-off to ATLUS' popular RPG, is set to release to global audiences soon. The game was teased by official ATLUS accounts — are you ready to don the masks of the Phantom Thieves once more?
Persona 5 The Phantom X is coming soon
The post on official social media accounts was simple: an image of the Persona 5 calling card with a figure that is not Joker and the words "Retake Your Desire."

While the knee-jerk reaction of many was to hypothesize about the long-awaited Persona 6, the figure in the image practically confirms that this post is about P5X.
Unfortunately, ATLUS did not reveal a specific release date for the game, and instead left us with a "Stay tuned!"

What is P5X?
Persona 5: The Phantom X was initially revealed as "Codename X" back in 2021. The game was fully released in April 2024 for China, Taiwan, and South Korea. There was also a closed beta for the Japanese player base late last year. It is free-to-play and available on iOS, Android, PC, and Steam.
What does P5X gameplay look like? Well, it retains its JRPG identity, but it's mixed with gacha elements. In a way, this makes it similar to HoYoverse's Honkai Star Rail. The characters you can pull for are a mix of new, original characters and returning characters from the franchise.
The game overall retains Persona 5's iconic aesthetic. In terms of plot and story progression, it follows P5's lead, too. However, it is set in a parallel universe with a different set of Phantom Thieves. The protagonist is the one featured in the teaser image — codename: Wonder. The game's mascot is Lufel, codename Cattle.

All of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts from Persona 5, including Kasumi Yoshizawa, appear in the game. The same is the case for S.E.E.S., but Metis is excluded.
Given that the game has had a decent amount of uptime in China, Taiwan, and South Korea, a global release should be nearing. Hopefully, we'll hear more from ATLUS in the near future.
