The NHL 23 esports tournament got a rebrand plus an expanded program! Here are the details ahead of the NHL 23 World Championship season.
The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced a new name for the NHL Gaming World Championship. It's now known as the EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Championship. This rebrand also arrives with an expansion of the game's esports program. Read on for details!
EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Championship
The EA SPORTS NHL 23 World Championship will involve each NHL Club hosting a tournament under a format of their own choice. This addition of 32 events will mean prize money for each Club Champion plus a bid in the NHL 23 North American Championship knockout round.
“Expanded programming in NHL markets and participation from all 32 Clubs has always been our ultimate objective as we continue to grow the NHL gaming ecosystem,” said Chris Golier, the NHL Group Vice President of Business Development and Technology Partnerships.
Golier added that as everyone heads into the season, there will be more chances for players to compete against each other. There will also be more social engagement across the different NHL platforms.
The NHL esports finalists from the North America and Europe online tournaments will also get the chance to attend an in-person final. These signature events will include the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend and the 2023 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series.
Interested competitors can sign up for the NHL 23 World Championship starting on December 8th, according to the announcement. More details about this tournament will be available over on its official website soon.
