Hark! Thar be no Steam!
Skull and Bones is the upcoming pirate game set in the Golden Age of Piracy of the 17th Century. The game was originally an expansion for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, but eventually grew into a full-fledged AAA game. The game will let players battle, plunder, and explore across the Indian Ocean.
If you’re wondering how to best set sail with Skull and Bones, then we’ve got you covered!
Is Skull and Bones on Steam?
Skull and Bones will not be available through Steam. The game was developed by those scallywags at Ubisoft, so it will only be available through Ubisoft related outlets. You can find the game either at Ubisoft Connect, the Ubi Store, or the Epic Games Store.
Additionally, players can get the game through Ubisoft’s monthly subscription program, Ubisoft+. All new releases are featured in this subscription, which will include Skull and Bones.

When can I play Skull and Bones?
Ubisoft and Epic have an accord, or in less pirate-y terms, an agreement. This partnership means that recent Ubisoft releases are only available on the Epic Games Store. The details of this agreement aren’t public knowledge. However, we can reasonably assume it has something to do with Steam taking 30% of game sales and the Epic Games Store taking considerably less. Pirates are all about their plunder, savvy?
Skull and Bones was listed on Steam until mid-2022, when it was delisted and made exclusive.
When can I start playing?
