An Animal Crossing competitor is inbound as HoYoverse reveals Petit Planet — their take on a life simulator with a cosmic twist.
HoYoverse revealed their latest title, Petit Planet: think Animal Crossing in space. They describe this as their "cosmic life sim" game, giving players a first look at gameplay, characters, and a way to sign up for the beta test.
Petit Planet reveal
The Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero developer-publisher released the reveal trailer for Petit Planet on Sept. 25, 2025.
Titled "Weave Your Dreams beneath the Stars," the trailer showed us several characters and activities in Petit Planet. planting, fishing, beachcombing, mining, cooking, crafting — Petit Planet looks like your run-of-the-mill life sim — again, HoYoverse's take on something like Animal Crossing. What sets it apart, though, is the "cosmic" aspect. You have fuzzy neighbors to befriend and distant galaxies to explore by taking a Starsea Voyage.

You will begin on your own planet, and Neighbors can connect their home planets to yours. The planet's vitality, Luca, shapes each one with unique landscapes full of life.

Customization was also teased — you can style characters with different outfits, design with themed furniture, and harness Luca to transform the planet.

No release window for the game has been announced yet. HoYoverse has confirmed that it will be on PC and mobile, and other platforms are currently in development.

At this point, you may have heard of their most popular titles: Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Tears of Themis, and Zenless Zone Zero. Less than a month ago, they also announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, their take on the autobattler genre (think Teamfight Tactics and Dota Autochess).
