Deep Silver announces Dead Island 2- 11 years after the launch of the original with 6 new characters and many more ways to kill zombies

After over a decade of waiting, Dead Island 2 is set to launch on Ferbuary 3rd, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as the XboX series X and Xbox One. Game publisher, Deep silver made the announcement during the 2022 Gamescom opening night after a leak on Amazon's listing four days ago.

The action-RPG horror adventure game was first launched in 2011 with hopes of a sequel to follow soon as revealed in 2014. However, things did not pan out that way as it has taken over 11 years for the sequel to arrive.

Dead Island 2 trailer opens with a character called Jacob waking up to the bright and sunny Los Angeles, California and quickly transitions to him fighting the zombies. The trailer shows new ways to slay the zombies and unveils new locations and weapons the player uses.

According to lead narrative designer, Ayesha Khan, asides from Jacob, there will also be five other playable zombie slaying characters. The game will be feature a co-op mode with up to three players able to play together.

How to preorder the game on all platforms

Dead Island 2 will have three editions to order from. Each edition has a different price range. This includes:

Standard Editon

Since the game will be available on both PC and console, there are several ways to preorder it. On PC, you can choose from all editions via the Epic Games store. On Playstation, you can choose between all editions for either the Ps4 or Ps5. While on Xbox, you can preorder through the Microsoft store for the Xbox Series or Xbox One. Players can also preorder the game on Amazon.

Additionally, price for the different editions differ on platforms. The base game starts at $44 on the Epic Games store while the Microsoft store price is around $69.99. The Standard Edition on PlayStation is $69.99, the Deluxe is $74.99 and the Gold Edition is $89.99.
