At gamescom 2025, Team Cherry finally revealed the official release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong to eager fans.
Hollow Knight fans, unite! Team Cherry announced at gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, that Hollow Knight: Silksong will release in 2025. Let's dive into all we know about one of the most anticipated games of this year.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Team Cherry released the first Hollow Knight game in 2017. Eight years later, the wait is over, and they are finally launching the sequel: Hollow Knight: Silksong. But why did it take them so long to develop it?
In an interview with Bloomberg, the co-founder of Team Cherry Studio revealed that there were no obstacles to the production of the game. “It was never stuck or anything,” Gibson stated. Instead, he explained, “it's just the case that we're a small team, and games take a lot of time. There wasn’t any big controversial moment behind it.” Meanwhile, you can already check out the official trailer on YouTube.
In this game, you take on the role of Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, while embarking on an adventure through a new kingdom filled with silk and song. Captured and transported to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must fight enemies and unravel mysteries while climbing towards the kingdom’s peak on a perilous pilgrimage. You can also discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts, and uncover ancient secrets related to your identity and past.
The game will be available for purchase on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. You can already check out a snippet of the official soundtrack here.
