Rockstar Games has officially announced another delay for Grand Theft Auto (GTA 6) from May 2026 to November 2026.

Rockstar Games has delayed the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). This news arrives mere months after Rockstar pushed the game back one year from May 2025 to May 2026. Now, fans will have to wait even longer for a game with potentially the highest expectations in history.

Rockstar says the delay will give GTA 6 "the level of polish fans expect and deserve"

Fans have been waiting for a follow-up to the ultra-successful Grand Theft Auto 5 since it launched over a decade ago in 2013. The game has maintained its relevance, with a large portion of the player base participating in role-play-based experiences. That hasn't stopped or slowed the chatter behind GTA 6.

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has delayed GTA 6 yet again from May 2026 to November 2026. As of now, the game is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 19, 2026, barring any further delays. In a statement posted on X, Rockstar explained that the team will use the extra months to polish the game.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

The statement continued, thanking fans for the continued support while doubling down on their excitement regarding the return to Vice City.

How many times has Rockstar delayed the game?

The first official trailer for GTA 6 was released on December 4, 2023, with a "coming 2025" sign included at the end. Rockstar would later attach a May 26, 2026 date for the game following the release of the second trailer. This latest update marks the third time Rockstar has delayed GTA 6.

While unfortunate, the developers wouldn't have made this decision without extensive discussion. Perhaps the game isn't ready, even though it has been in development for over ten years. The post quickly amassed millions of impressions and reactions from fans.

Unfortunately, we may have to hear the "we got x before GTA 6" jokes at least until Nov. 19, 2026.
