Berlin and esports

This isn't the first time that the city's leaders have shown interest in gaming. Initiatives like House of Games supported by Giffey, for example, provide a central hub for the games industry.

According to Giffey, the industry has become a key driver of innovation, digitalization, and economic growth, and with over €6 million in state funding for it, Berlin aims to attract studios, games companies, startups, and developers to strengthen its position as a leading European innovation hub.

"We see you, and we want you in Berlin! With the House of Games, you will now get a real home in Berlin, supporting networking, funding and visibility," Giffey said. "This project is another step on our way to become the number one location for innovation in Europe."
