DreamHack now eye DreamHack Dallas as their first in-person event, held in June 2022.

DreamHack’s post-pandemic festival dreams will need to wait after they announced that DreamHack Anaheim 2022 in February would no longer be happening.

Why was DreamHack Anaheim 2022 Canceled?

The decision to ultimately cancel DreamHack Anaheim in February 2022 was made as a result of difficulties to host the event at an optimal level.

“We were all really looking forward to our first in-person festival in the United States in two years. Canceling DreamHack Anaheim was not an easy decision.” Said Kryzsztof Pikiewics, SVP of Festivals, ESL Gaming. “However, DreamHack creates a space for our community to connect, explore, win, play, and be themselves through an interactive gaming lifestyle experience.”

In the official press release, Pikiewics spoke in further detail about the cancellation. While he listed his excitement and eagerness to return to in-person events, he felt the time was no longer right.

“We simply didn’t feel like Anaheim would be able to live up to that in February.” He proclaims.

Instead, DreamHack will now put focus on other events in 2022. The first two are DreamHack Dallas and DreamHack Summer in June.

Halo was meant to headline one of the primary events at Dreamhack Anaheim 2022.

What was supposed to be at DreamHack Anaheim?

DreamHack Anaheim was set to create a battleground for competitors in CS:GO, Halo, and various different fighting games.

Both the HCS NA Regional Championship and the ESL Challenger were slated to be held in person at the Anaheim event.  However, now that the event is canceled, both tournaments will operate in a separate capacity.

Fortunately, those who already bought DreamHack Anaheim tickets will be refunded. Furthermore, they will also receive free entry to the NA Regional Championship event still held on Feb 11-13, 2022, at the Anaheim Congress Center.

Ticket holders now have a choice to make use of their new ticket or opt to forego their free ticket and give it to someone else.

Further information about the now-canceled event will be released in the near future. The entire schedule of global DreamHack festivals for 2022 is currently available at dreamhack.com.

These events are subject to change over the course of the year. While it would be great to see the other LAN events, fans should continue to stay updated on further travel restrictions.
