Among Us 3D, a new version of the hit online social deduction title, is set to make its way to PC very soon.
Back in 2018, Among Us was released, and its reception was not too great. However, in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, the game took to the skies. With new maps added along the way and features such as proximity chat, the game continued to succeed over the years. With many similar games appearing throughout this time, the game took a backseat. But when it was released to Virtual Reality (VR) in late 2022, it made a slight comeback.
On the back of the VR release, with the game taking on a first-person perspective, we now have a non-VR release with Among Us 3D set to make an appearance.
Among Us 3D comes to Steam
With games such as Lockdown Protocol putting the player into a first-person perspective, Among Us 3D looks to retake the top spot in the genre. Although the game remains the same as the original release, some new features will be added to the mix.
Proximity voice chat
With proximity voice chat, players do not need to connect to a third-party program to communicate within the game. This makes it much easier to join random lobbies rather than coordinating people to a new voice server.
New and returning mini-games
Related articles
Everyone that has played the game knows the mini-games, like clearing leaves, shooting lasers at rocks, or uploading vital data. However, according to the Steam page, it would seem as though Among Us 3D is set to have a few new additions.
Crossplay
Although Among Us 3D is completely separate from the original title, players will be able to join lobbies with those playing via the VR title.
Customization
As with the original game, Among Us 3D will offer extensive customization, with players able to choose from a wide range of hats, gloves, and skins. However, since the game is separate from Among Us itself, your purchased items there will probably not carry over.
While Among Us 3D currently has no official release date set, those who are interested can add it to their wishlist on Steam right now. However, with that said, a demo version will be available for the game from Feb. 24 through to March 3 as part of Steam Next Fest – although it obviously does feature all the features or game modes that will be available at launch.
