The June 21 Nintendo Direct revealed a plethora of games. We’ve broken down each and every one of the brand new announcements for you!

On June 21, at 7:00 a.m. PT, Nintendo unveiled a special and pretty surprising edition of its Nintendo Direct presentation series. Hosted on YouTube, the company revealed that this presentation would include Pikmin 4 details. But if you missed it, what’s was the deal with this event?

June 21 Nintendo Direct reveals

Here’s all games announced at the June 21 Nintendo Direct:

Mythforce

An action adventure game inspired by "Saturday Morning Cartoons" and ancient mythology (although that clockwork owl reminds us of Clash of the Titans more than anything). This one doesn't have a solid release date, but will release this year.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Detective Pikachu returns in Detective Pikachu Returns! A new puzzle mystery based on the surprise hit game and movie. Releases just a few months from now in October 6!

Super Mario RPG

A game many thought would never get a remake (Mallow-enjoyers praise!), Super Mario RPG is getting a remake in full HD. This looks like a faithful remaster of the original with all new graphics, but the same feel as the classic original. It releases on November 17, 2023.

New Princess Peach game

An unnamed Princess Peach-led game was revealed, which seems to show her undergoing magical girl-style transformations. Honestly, this looks really cute. Despite being one of the best characters to humiliate your friends with in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Peach has lacked main-line games. Now we get one!

Luigi Mansion Dark Moon remake

A Luigi's Mansion game originally only on the 3DS, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is getting a full HD remake for Nintendo Switch. We always had a soft spot for these games, so it's great that one of the better entries in the series, that never got a non-handhold releases is coming to a major console.

Arkham Trilogy (Nintendo Switch

The Arkham series of video games are the quintessential Batman experience, and some of the best superhero games ever made. This new trilogy brings three of the titles (Presumably Asylum, City, and Origins) to the Nintendo Switch for the first time!

Gloomhaven

An adaptation of the hit Boardgame, Gloomhaven is a dungeon-crawler inspired by 80s and 90s classics like Heroquest and Talisman. Now it's handheld, portable, and requires 100% less rolling dice! It releases on September 18.

Just Dance 2024 edition

Ready for its appearance at the 2023 Olympic Esports Championships, Just Dance 2024 edition seemingly bucks the trend that the previous edition would be the "final annual release" of the series. It's releasing on Nintendo Switch this October.

Silent Hope

An RPG set in a world where an evil king has stolen everybody's ability to speak (that's the most compelling story reason I've ever heard for not paying voice actors), Silent Hope drops for the Nintendo Switch on October 3.

DragonQuest Monsters

(Image via Nintendo)

One of the the oldest and most storied RPG franchises has finally said "Screw it, we're doing the Pokémon thing." Releasing on December 1, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will see you take control of the now classic and iconic Dragon Quest monsters to defeat the forces of evil. We'll be making an all slime party and wiping repeatedly.

Pikmin HD remasters

Released today (June 21), the remasters of all the Classic Pikmin games are apparently releasing later today on the Nintendo eShop. They hadn't appeared at the time of writing, but expect them soon!

Head Bangers Rhythm Royale

A Team 17 rhythm game revolving around pigeons, Head Bangers Rhythm Royale looks like a perfect time-sink and has the cute, indie charm that Team 17 always delivers. It's releasing on Halloween, October 31, of all days.

Penny's Big Breakaway

A 3d platformer by the creators of Sonic Mania, this is clearly a homage to the classic collect-a-fons and 3d platformers of yesteryear. With cute characters and a great style, this is perfect material for Nintendo Switch. No solid release date, but you can wishlist it now!

Star Ocean The Second Story R

The Star Ocean games are foundational in the JRPG space, and now the second game in the series is getting a remake. Star Ocean The Second Story R is releasing November 2, bringing hybrid 3d/2d style that games like Octopath Traveller made popular.

WarioWare Move It

One of the best party games available on Nintendo platforms is getting a new, more motion-filled sequel. WarioWare Move It releases on November 3.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Perhaps the most surprising announcement was of a new 2d side scrolling Mario platformer called SUper Mario Bros. Wonder. This game notably includes Princess Daisy as a playable character in a platformer for the first time ever! It's releasing on October 20!
