The question on the minds of many: Is Fortnite Delulu coming back?

Fortnite's first-ever proximity chat-enabled game mode, 'Delulu', quickly captured the attention of players everywhere. From strategizing how to win a match to betraying teammates, it evoked a mix of emotions in all who participated. However, after its second weekend, Epic Games has removed it. So, will Fortnite Delulu ever come back?

Does Epic Games plan to bring Fortnite Delulu back?

As it stands, Epic Games has yet to state whether there are plans to revive Delulu in the near future. The original blog post for the game mode outlined two weekends of play for all of those interested in the unique twist on Fortnite that it offered.

The two-weekend run concluded on Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. ET. Unfortunately, that could mean we don't see Fortnite Delulu come back any time soon, especially with the game's annual Fortnitemares event right around the corner.

Does that mean it will never come back? Based on the numbers, it's more likely than not that Delulu will return sometime in the future. Despite slightly declining numbers, Fortnite reached upward of 3 million players this past weekend, due in part to the Delulu game mode.

A viral game mode with some definite issues

At its best, Delulu is a game mode that hundreds of thousands of players enjoyed. The chaos, strategy, Emotes, and virality are impossible to ignore. Anyone with access to social media has likely come across some hilarious clips from the Delulu experience.

However, that doesn't mean it was without its issues. Level-headed players consistently reported rampant racism and other horrendous remarks while playing. Unfortunately, that was always going to be part of the experience.

That's more of a commentary on the state of online culture, but those who avoided this behavior or didn't allow it to affect them mainly reported positive experiences. Could the negative aspects of Delulu mean it may never return? It's possible, but it seems like a no-brainer to bring it back sometime down the line.
