Here’s what we know about the Fortnite servers and Chapter 5 Season 2 delay.
Players are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths and Mortals. The new Greek Mythology-themed Fortnite season offers new weapons, a new Battle Pass, and more, but servers have still not returned online. This is atypical for Fortnite, and Epic Games has provided an update regarding the release time, which we’ll cover in this article.
UPDATE - Fortnite servers are expected to be down for another five hours
As of 3:22 p.m. ET, Fortnite has been down for 12 hours overall since entering the downtime on March 8. Per the post above, Epic has extended the downtime by five additional hours. While no reason for the delay has surfaced, Fortnite servers should be back up around 8:30 p.m. ET.
When will the Fortnite servers be up?
Fortnite entered the usual downtime period at 3 a.m. ET on March 8 to prepare the game for the Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths and Mortals launch. However, Epic Games encountered issues during downtime, which delayed the season by eight hours.
The Fortnite Status account on 'X' said this regarding the delay while answering the question, "When will the Fortnite servers be up?":
Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours.
We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale. The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we’ll provide another update when we have more info.
This message arrived at 9:14 a.m. ET on March 8, meaning Chapter 5 Season 2 should arrive at around 5:14 p.m. at the latest. Although that is not set in stone, it gives players an idea of when to expect Fortnite servers to be back up. What issue arose during downtime is unclear, but it was significant enough to delay the season.
