Many are wondering why Fortnite has yet to return to iOS in the United States. Here is what we know about the situation.

Epic Games co-founder and CEO Tim Sweeney said Fortnite would return to the Apple iOS in the United States this week. However, since the organization submitted to Apple for review, there has been only radio silence. This has left many eager fans wondering when Fortnite will finally return.

Unfortunately, Apple's communication has remained minimal, but some details have emerged regarding the status of Fortnite's hopefully inevitable return to the App Store. Here's what we know about the situation.

Why hasn't Fortnite returned to iOS in the United States yet?

Since Epic Games submitted Fortnite to Apple for review, four long days have passed. According to journalist Mark Gurman, "90% of apps are reviewed within 24 hours." We have surpassed 100 hours with no update from Apple regarding Fortnite's situation.

Amid the unprecedented wait period and radio silence, Tim Sweeney confirmed no updates about Fortnite coming back to iOS. It's unclear what has transpired behind the scenes. However, it's safe to assume Apple is purposely taking its time.

We can only speculate at this point as to what's causing this delay. Given the circumstances surrounding Apple's monumental loss in the lengthy legal battle, approving Fortnite's return to the App Store would be the proverbial nail in the coffin. It's unclear how long fans will wait, but the outlook isn't promising.

Fans react to Apple not approving Fortnite's return to the App Store

Although you can still use different services to play Fortnite on Apple devices, fans have not taken kindly to the company's delayed review process. Some have theorized that Apple is purposely taking its time in an attempt not to let Epic Games win.

Well-known Fortnite player and content creator DuckyTheGamer believes Apple could pull something sneaky to prevent the game from returning to iOS. Unfortunately, considering Tim Sweeney's response to the situation, the wait could last much longer than 100 hours.

What can I do in the meantime?

If you can't wait and are desperate to play Fortnite on your iPhone or other Apple device, services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now allow you to accomplish the same goal. The setup steps require a bit of your time, but the result will be similar to using the Fortnite app.

Otherwise, Fortnite is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. So, while the wait continues for Apple to approve the application, there are plenty of ways to play Fortnite.
