Here’s what you should know about the long-awaited return of Fortnite’s Zapotron weapon!
A Fortnite weapon is seldom so rare that it only ever appears in the game for 30 minutes. However, that is the case for the Zapotron, which debuted briefly in the Fortnite Chapter 1 "Pre-Season" period. Seven years have passed since then, and Epic Games has confirmed the Zapotron will return to OG playlists on Feb. 14.
Here is everything you need to know about this weapon returning and how it works.
When is the Zapotron returning to Fortnite? What makes it so unique?
The Zapotron's return is a big deal. Only one video exists of a player finding it in the game during the 30 minutes it was available in September 2017. Epic Games removed the item shortly after releasing it, and it has remained locked away for the last seven years.
Beginning on Friday, Feb. 14, this electricity-based Sniper will be available in Fortnite's OG game modes. While the method of acquiring it is unknown, the weapon may or may not be available only in Supply Drops. We'll have to wait and see how Epic Games handles its rarity in-game.
In any case, the Zapotron functions similarly to Fortnite's Rail Gun. You must charge the weapon before firing it, which packs quite the punch. Previously, Zapotron would have used Energy Cells, but Epic's recent update has changed it to Heavy Bullets.
Here is a look at the stats for the most recently updated version of the Zapotron:
- DPS - 28
- Damage - 28
- Magazine Size - 1
- Fire Rate - 1
- Reload Time - 2.52 seconds
- Structure Damage - 1,000

As mentioned, Ionix_TV was one of the only players to find the Zapotron during that 30-minute window in Fortnite Chapter 1. The video above, which has over 2 million views, showcases this creator's experience finding and using the weapon.
That gives you an idea of what to expect when the ultra-rare weapon returns on Valentine's Day – a generous gift from Epic Games without question. While we don't know what team the Zapotron will be available in Fortnite OG, you can expect it in the morning for those in the Eastern time zone.
