Esports.gg interviewed ThePeachCobbler about what goes into making The Milk Cup a reality!

The Milk Cup Finals tournament is a culmination of three qualifier events, with only the top Fortnite teams getting the opportunity to duke it out on stage and aim for the circuit's first-ever trophy. One of the key people behind this circuit is The Milk Cup advisor ThePeachCobbler, who is also a Fortnite streamer. Esports.gg sat down with ThePeachCobbler for an interview about what goes into making this tournament a reality!

ThePeachCobbler on creating The Milk Cup

As the advisor for The Milk Cup, ThePeachCobbler revealed that she's amazed how her idea became a full-fledged event. She also mentioned facing negativity in the beginning, especially from men questioning why the tournament existed in the first place. However, as the project evolved, she noticed a shift in attitudes, with more people, including men, becoming excited and supportive.

"Honestly, I can't believe it came from an idea and a passion that I had. I just felt like speaking up and seeing where it goes. Watching it come to be this massive event has truly been history-making," ThePeachCobbler told esports.gg.

ThePeachCobbler's love for esports began after competing in her first Women of the eRena (WOTE) tournament. She also recalled that while getting invited to co-ed tournaments, she noticed a significant disparity in how women were treated compared to men. Therefore, she used her earnings from the WOTE event to create women-only tournaments. Over time, this fostered a space with healthy competition and less harassment.

"I chose to take my earnings from my WOTE and put it into a female-only tournament and help create a space for women in gaming," she said. "And that has dramatically grown over the time. And being in WOTE had me meeting new women — it was the first time I actually even found other women to compete with and play with."

History in the making

In addition to putting her earnings into this, ThePeachCobbler also took some hours off streaming to concentrate on her work.

"It's been very hard. I've definitely taken some hours off of streaming to kind of concentrate because you can't really do both and give it the time that it needs," she said. "And The Milk Cup, to me, has become more than just a project. It's like my baby. It's watching history be made. I'm so excited. Anytime I hear it, I get goosebumps."

Overall, The Milk Cup reignited ThePeachCobbler's passion for supporting women in esports, and she's inspired by the positive feedback. She’s proud that the event helped several women get noticed by top organizations, too.

As for parting words, ThePeachCobbler encouraged women to get involved in the industry because there are so many opportunities beyond just competiting in esports tournaments.

"There are actually so many more opportunities than we realize. A lot of the women — a lot of tech teams are made up of women, and people don't even realize it," she said, adding that there are lots of Discord groups that build women up. "Because, unfortunately, gaming has a dark side where it can be really toxic. And then you have the fun, competitive side. And you just want to make sure that you're finding that healthy side and you're pouring into it."
