Record-setting DreamHack Cash Cup Extra by TaySon, Veno, and Rezon

TaySon, Veno, and Rezon broke the DreamHack Cash Cup Extra point record with 846 total points. The trio won three out of eight matches and won the European event. In NAE, Commandment, Cented, and Edgey broke out of the 2nd place slump. They are one of the best teams in the region, but have fallen just short of the win several times this year.

A few days after qualifying for FNCS Grand Finals, Tai “Guild TaySon” Starčič, “Glorious Veno,” and “Rezon” keep the wins coming. The trio dominated the EU DreamHack Cash Cup Extra from beginning to end. The easiest way to explain how well they played is to look at the leaderboard. TaySon, Veno, and Rezon finished with 846 points while 2nd place scored 672 points. Additionally, the 2nd place trio outscored all of their NAE counterparts.

TaySon, Veno, and Rezon just ran through opponents. Not only did the trio win three matches, but they also racked up six games with 13+ eliminations. Altogether, TaySon, Rezon, and Veno finished with 5/8 matches inside the top 2 and 91 total eliminations.

As the day progress, they showed no weak points. Consistently, these three looked like the best team in the lobby. They did whatever they wanted today and it worked. TaySon, Veno, and Rezon look scary good heading into the FNCS Grand Finals next weekend. All season they showed flashes of greatness. Now, it is here to stay.

Jaden "Excel Wolfiez" Ashman is one of the best and most notable controller players in Europe. Since World Cup, Wolfiez has continued to player at a high level. This season looks no different. His trio, "Gamma Merijn" and Milan "GXR Milan" Lopes, could have one the EU DreamHack Cash Cup Extra on any other day. They totaled 672 points and played quite well. Unfortunately, TaySon' trio took over.

Wolfiez, Merijn, and Milan prepare to compete in Semi-Finals this weekend in hopes of qualifying to the final round. The heats are not yet confirmed, but estimates put this trio in the most difficult Heat in Europe. They have an uphill battle to fight, but will advance if they play as they did during DreamHack.

Another trio finished with 672 points, but took third place, due to tiebreakers. That trio is Alexandre “Falcon AndiIex” Christophe and Cyprien “Xsweeze” Dumonteil played with Idris “Vitality Snayzy“ Aichouche. Much like TaySon, these three are on fire. They broke a record of their own during the last week of FNCS Qualifiers, most 10+ elimination games in Round 4. They look to compete for the title in 10 days.

Since the end of 2020, Josh “Commandment” Roach, Evan “FaZe Cented” Barron, and Ben “NRG Edgey” Peterson played better incredibly well. There have been trios with moments better than this trio, but over the past year, these three players have been the most consistent. Unfortunately, consistency does not equal wins. They won a couple of smaller events this season, yet continued their streak in larger events. During the NAE DreamHack Cash Cup Extra, the curse of 2nd place was finally broken.

In the last three seasons, Cented, Commandment, and Edgey placed 2nd in FNCS. A stat that appears to be made up. In that same time, they only won a single Trio Cash Cup. For how incredible this trio is they should have won many events. Luck failed to turn in their direction.

Their luck changed today. The trio played seven matches and never placed worse than 8th place. Commandment, Cented, and Edgey basically played every match to the end. While they did not drop 91 eliminations, like the EU winners, they finished with a respectable 59 eliminations.
