NRG is officially leaving Fortnite. Read below for more details.

It is a sad day when one of the most prominent esports organizations announces their leave from Fortnite, and that's precisely what NRG did yesterday. Since the beginning, NRG has been a top leader in the Fortnite ecosystem, with creators such as Clix, AussieAntics and more on their roster.

But today... they are officially cutting ties with anything Fortnite related.

NRG is leaving Fortnite; releasing players such as Clix from their roster

Unfortunately, the way things have been going, it was no surprise that NRG had made this announcement. Due to a lack of support from the game, many organizations have been cutting ties with the battle royale.

This one just hurts a little more than the others.

NRG held such a large precedent in the Fortnite scene, paving the way for many other organizations to succeed.

With players like Benjyfishy, EpikWhale, Clix and more, the team held a record when it came to signing the best players.

The team is still running strong, but Fortnite is no longer a part of that journey.

NRG Grady Rains announces their leave from Fortnite: "It just doesn't make sense business-wise"

Taking to Twitter, NRG's executive producer Grady Rains made the official announcement.

"It just does not make sense business-wise for us and a lot of other orgs", said Rains in his Twitter video. "We held on as long as we possibly could."

The announcement stung Fortnite fans everywhere but was not unforeseeable.

"It's crazy. I guess I knew at some point that this day would come, but I do love the community."

With NRG being one of the largest esports organizations in the world, them making this move only begs the question; Will more organizations follow suit? Or will Fortnite begin to work more with the community?

Regardless, it is still a sad day. Seeing NRG leave the scene will create a ripple within the Fortnite world. Hopefully, this pushes for a positive change in the future, and we can continue to see competitive Fortnite thrive.
