Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2's latest teaser gave fans a look at an MCU-inspired Captain America skin and more!
Epic Games is leaning heavily into a Marvel inspiration in the lead-up to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2. A recent teaser ahead of the new season, dubbed Showdown, featured a nod to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film while giving fans their first look at a new Captain America Fortnite skin.
Here’s what we learned from the brief clip shown ahead of Fortnite’s Showdown season.
A new MCU-inspired Captain America skin is coming to Fortnite
The Captain America character debuted in Fortnite way back in Chapter 2 Season 3 before the Marvel-centric season. However, like with the other characters featured in the Season 4 Battle Pass, this Captain America took inspiration from his more recent MCU appearances.
Fortnite’s latest teaser trailer not only featured a not-so-subtle nod to the Avengers: Doomsday marketing campaign, but also a Captain America skin based on his first appearance in the MCU. For a brief moment, the Ice King boss looks at a frozen Steve Rogers, trapped in a massive block of ice.
Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that this is a version of the character more true to Chris Evans’s portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically Captain America: The First Avenger, based on the shield. It’s a fitting decision, considering Disney recently confirmed the return of Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday.
This newest Captain America skin will likely appear in the Battle Pass, but neither Epic Games nor any Fortnite leakers have confirmed this theory. Some other characters appeared briefly as well, but all are original Fortnite designs.
What other characters appeared in the trailer?
Three other characters also appeared frozen in blocks of ice. The most notable among them was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s in-universe character, The Foundation. A member of The Seven, The Foundation debuted in Chapter 3 Season 1, utilizing Johnson’s likeness with his helmet removed.
Much of marketing leading up to Chapter 7 Season 2 has revolved around The Seven and The Foundation. It appears those who missed out on this character in the Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass will have their chance for redemption in Chapter 7 Season 2.
The other two characters are Orelia and The Prisoner, who appear to just be their normal versions. It’s unclear how these two will tie into the lore if at all, especially as it pertains to Captain America and The Foundation. Only time will tell ahead of the March 19 Fortnite Showdown season launch.
