How to get the Candy Axe in Fortnite

The beloved Candy Cane Axe has returned to Fortnite for its yearly rotation through the Item Shop. Following its debut way back in 2017, the Candy Axe instantly became a staple in many players' loadouts. This Pickaxe's festive aesthetic is appealing, and it's the closest you will get to the elusive Minty Axe, which is no longer obtainable. Here's how you can unlock the Candy Axe before it's too late.

Epic Games relaunched the Candy Axe in the Dec. 30 Item Shop rotation, costing you 1,500 V-Bucks. Although relatively expensive for a Pickaxe, the Candy Axe is an OG item that you can use any time of the year. However, you can only acquire it around the holidays. Once it exits the Item Shop on Jan. 3, you must wait until next Dec. to purchase it.

You have two options to obtain the Candy Axe: the in-game Item Shop or Fortnite's recently launched Web Shop. Regardless of your chosen method, you must have 1,500 V-Bucks in your account to purchase it. In addition to the flashing lights and candy cane appearance, the Pickaxe is also reactive. That means it will continuously light up with each elimination.

There is no shortage of options in the Fortnite Item Shop, including a Samurai Darth Vader and Stormtrooper, Mariah Carey, the Cyberpunk 2077 collab, Master Chief, and more. Pairing any of these with the Candy Axe would complete a Fortnite ensemble that should give you the confidence to win. Even if you don't, at least you're appropriately fitted with some incredible-looking cosmetics.

It's also worth noting that any winter-themed items will rotate out of the Item Shop between now and when the Winterfest 2024 event ends in a few days.
