Fortnitemares 2024 will arrive on Oct. 12 instead.

Fortnite's annual Halloween event was set to launch on Oct. 11. However, Epic Games has unexpectedly delayed the Fortnitemares 2024 update. Initially, the game would have entered downtime at 4 a.m. ET on the morning of Oct. 11, but Epic delayed the maintenance period and eventually postponed it. Instead, the developers provided an update that players eager to experience the latest update would need to wait a little longer. Here's what we know!

Fortnitemares 2024 event launch delayed to Oct. 12

Much to the dismay of fans, Epic Games posted an update regarding the delay via the Fortnite Status X account, stating that the developers required additional time to prepare Fortnitemares 2024 for launch.

"In order to ensure a properly frightful Fortnitemares, v31.40 will go into downtime on Saturday at 2 AM ET. We apologize for the confusion and delay, and will let you know once the update is live."

Fortnite Status update regarding Fortnitemares 2024

Instead of going live on Oct. 11 as planned, the delayed Fortnitemares 2024 update will arrive on Oct. 12, likely around 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Epic announced that downtime will commence at 2 a.m. on Oct. 12, at which point the developers will prepare to launch the event. It's an unfortunate circumstance, but the wait will be worthwhile based on the leaks.

Fortnite Halloween event trailer leaked despite the delay

Although the developers delayed Fortnitemares 2024 by one day, the event trailer surfaced prematurely. The video is just over one minute long and depicts additional skins, including Edward Scissorhands, The Pumpkin King, Sally, Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Captain Hook. Furthermore, the trailer showcased a new Chainsaw item alongside the usual Pumpkin Launcher and some reskinned points of interest (POIs).

We also identified a previously leaked Billy the Puppet item and TV screens depicting Billy. All in all, Fortnitemares 2024 looks promising, which makes the wait even more excruciating. However, you can continue playing Fortnite throughout the day and rest before the update arrives.
