Fortnite x Avatar collab: Release date and what to expect

Another monumental Fortnite collaboration is on the horizon, and this one is massive. Various leakers in the scene have confirmed Fortnite x Avatar will happen in the coming weeks. Rather than Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is already in Fortnite, this crossover revolves around James Cameron's Avatar.

Here is everything we know about when Avatar is coming to Fortnite.

Fortnite leakers, including the always-reliable HYPEX, have confirmed that the Avatar crossover will arrive in this update. For those who don't know, the most recent Fortnite patch dropped on Jan. 31. Since it was the final update of Chapter 6 Season 1, Fortnite x Avatar will launch before Season 2 lands on Feb. 21.

Unfortunately, with 20 days remaining, the Avatar cosmetics could land in the Item Shop during any upcoming rotation. Leakers are usually ahead of the curve on these Shop resets, so we should learn more before they arrive.

According to HYPEX and other sources, at minimum, the Fortnite x Avatar collab will feature Jake Sully and Neytiri Banshees. It's safe to assume these two cosmetics will be in-game Gliders. While those are the only two leaked items, we expect Jake and Neytiri also to have Fortnite skins.

This crossover continues Disney's ongoing partnership with Fortnite, so it would be a missed opportunity to leave Avatar's two protagonists out of the equation. Let's also not forget that both Avatar films have grossed over $1 billion, making it one of the most successful film franchises in history.

Disney and Fortnite should capitalize on this collaboration with more than just the two confirmed Gliders. Ultimately, only time will tell as we await more details from leakers and Epic Games.
