Fortnite v29.01 is officially live, and it's a massive update with much to cover. For one, the fan-favorite character Midas is finally back after a lengthy absence from the game. The Rise of Midas patch also includes a slew of new Quests, the return of the Floor is Lava limited-time mode (LTM), and the in-game debut of the Chains of Hades Mythic item. Here is a complete breakdown of the update!

Midas returns to Fortnite in v29.01 update with Quests

Midas is back in the Rise of Midas in-game storyline, which includes a complete questline. The tale, as explained in the official blog post, explains that Midas is back but wants to flee Fortnite Island. From now until April 2 at 9 a.m. ET, it's up to the players to ensure Midas boards "The Marigold" yacht and escapes successfully.

The Rise of Midas questline begins today with the "Midas Rises" phase, followed by four others over the next two weeks.

Here is a complete list of the Rise of Midas Quests and when they will be available:

  • Midas Rises: live right now
  • Et Tu, Brutus?: available March 20 at 9 a.m. ET
  • Jules vs. the Golden Touch: available March 25 at 9 a.m. ET
  • Myths of Midas: available March 27 at 9 a.m. ET
  • The Great Marigold Yacht Heist: available March 28 at 9 a.m. ET

Here are the cosmetic items you will receive for finishing a specific number of challenges:

  • Complete six Quests – Receive the Cerberus Medallion Spray
  • Complete 12 Quests – Receive the Rose of Avarice Back Bling
  • Complete 18 Quests – Receive the Queen in Gold Glider

The Floor is Lava LTM returns in Fortnite v29.01

Floor is Lava fans can fear no more as the limited-time mode (LTM) has finally returned to Fortnite. For a limited time, players can queue into the Floor is Lava playlist and build high to avoid falling victim to the lava beneath. From a loot perspective, you can enjoy the Chapter 5 Season 2 lineup, including weapons and items.

This LTM also features a separate questline, where players can unlock additional in-game cosmetic rewards until April 2. Below, you will find a list of those items:

  • Lightning King Medallion Spray
  • Zeus Medallion Spray
  • The Gilded Vengeance Pickaxe

How to unlock the Ascendant Midas skin

Midas already has several iconic skins in Fortnite, but Fortnite v29.01 adds another unique look. The Ascendant Midas Outfit debuts in the Fortnite Item Shop on March 26 at 8 p.m. ET.

Those looking to complete the ensemble can also grab the following items alongside Ascendant Midas:

The Rise of Midas Cup details

Looking to earn the Ascendar Midas Outfit for free? Look no further than the Rise of Midas Cup, which goes live on March 24. Players in all regions can compete, and those who place high enough will receive the Ascendant Midas skin and Back Bling before anyone else. Additionally, competitors who earn at least eight points will unlock The Rise of Midas Loading Screen.

Here is how the format works for the Rise of Midas Cup:

  • Solo format
  • Three-hour session
  • Ten-match limit
  • Players earn points based on placement and eliminations

Chains of Hades and Shield Bubble Jr. debut

Midas is not the only one having fun in the Fortnite v29.01 update. The Chains of Hades Mythic weapon that Epic Games teased in the first round of patch notes is now available. You can acquire from the ground, in Chests, or by defeating the Hades boss character.

You can also find the new Shield Bubble Jr. on the ground and in Chests. This utility item will deploy a smaller Shield Bubble than the usual version, but it's equally effective.

Bugs addressed in Fortnite v29.01

Here is a list of bugs addressed by Epic Games in the latest update:

  • Fixed an issue allowing players to throw the Thunderbolt of Zeus through structures.
  • Fixed an issue where players may have been able to shoot through player-built structures with the Gatekeeper Shotgun.
  • Fixed an issue where players may have been able to fly with the Wings of Icarus indefinitely.
