Here’s what we know about the rumored melee-only Fortnite LTM coming later this season!

Fortnite's Limited-Time Modes (LTM) are no longer a regular occurrence in the game. With the addition of Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival, Epic Games has somewhat abandoned the LTM concept. However, a recent leak from reliable data miner HYPEX indicates a new melee-only LTM is coming to Fortnite later in Chapter 5 Season 3.

Everything we know about the melee-only LTM in Fortnite

HYPEX posted a leak regarding this upcoming melee-only Fortnite LTM amid the annual Epic Games summer break. Although nothing new has come to the game lately, this upcoming LTM sounds like a blast. Based on the information provided, this LTM will feature only melee weapons, meaning you can holster your Shotguns, SMGs, and Assault Rifles for this one.

The loot pool will be interesting, considering Fortnite's expansive list of melee weapons. We envision players chopping through the sky with Kinetic Blades and Shockwave Hammers not far behind. HYPEX published a list of Fortnite melee weapons and other items expected to be in the new LTM:

  • All Heals + Shockwaves
  • Grapple Blade
  • Sideways Scythe
  • Shockwave Hammer
  • Nitro Fists
  • Chains of Hades
  • Kinetic Blade
  • Magneto Mythic

This list only scratches the surface, as the infamous Infinity Blade and Lightsabers also classify as melee weapons. HYPEX indicated other Fortnite items will appear in the melee LTM, but the list above is all we know thus far.

When is the new Limited-Time Mode coming to Fortnite?

The leaker only stated that the melee-only Fortnite LTM would arrive later this season—we are currently in Chapter 5 Season 3. Epic Games has confirmed that Season 3 concludes on August 16, meaning the developers will include the new LTM in an upcoming update. The next update will presumably occur on July 19, alongside the arrival of Jack Sparrow and the Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration.

Although the precise release date is unknown, seeing more LTMs is exciting since it feels like Epic Games has forgotten this concept.
