AI Darth Vader in Fortnite is the funniest thing you’ll see today

When Fortnite fans woke up this morning to the v34.10 update, no one expected an AI Darth Vader would spawn into the game. While NPCs are common in the game, this character represents something unlike anything you've experienced. Darth Vader can react to your voice and character, which has already created viral moments.

Here's everything you need to know about the new Sith Lord NPC, including where to find him and some of our favorite moments.

Anyone looking to experience Fortnite's latest advancements in AI can head to one of the three locations outlined above. Upon landing at one of these spots, you must defeat the boss character, who will join your side and allow you to interact with him. After recruiting him, you can speak to Vader and receive responses accordingly.

For example, you can request more information about him, which prompts a response regarding the Republic's fall and the Empire's rise. As you can imagine, Darth Vader has plenty of colorful responses and reactions to your character and the words you utter.

Epic Games worked directly with Google Gemini and Eleven Labs to bring AI Darth Vader to life. This partnership is in a test phase, during which players can communicate with him. Children cannot use the feature without parental permission.

More explicit players may want to see how Lord Vader would react to certain words and phrases, curse words, for example. However, Epic Games programmed the character not to swear unless you are the Fortnite Icon Series member, Kathleen "Loserfruit" Belsten, who got Darth Vader to say the f-word.

Epic Games designed this character to avoid gore, addiction, terrorism, politics, and other subjects. Vader will also avoid the vast majority of curse words and the touchy subject of the atrocities committed upon the younglings.

Additionally, on the topic of self-harm, the Sith Lord will offer words of affirmation and encouragement, including advice to seek professional assistance.

One of the first viral clips came from family-friendly Fortnite streamer Nick Eh 30. Upon encountering the character, he enters and exits the portal, and AI Darth Vader commends Nick Eh 30's "never back down, never give up spirit."

Fellow Fortnite legend Ninja conversed with AI Darth Vader about the "low taper fade" meme. Unfortunately, for Ninja, Lord Vader confirmed the meme is dead and he can comfortably move on to whatever trend may be next.

More viral clips and moments will undoubtedly surface over the next few days. However, we leave you with Darth Vader saying the term "Skibidi Toilet," something you may never have expected to hear.

It's also worth noting that the family of the late James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader, signed off on this advancement. It will be interesting to see how it progresses.
