This fighting games event features so many titles, from huge to niche. CEOtaku 2024 returns to its anime roots!

At the end of 2024, the fighting games community (FGC) has a marvelously big event: CEOtaku VIII or CEOtaku 2024. It’s very special, as the main focus here is an impressive variety of anime fighters.

After being criticized for shifting towards more massive titles, such as Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, CEOtaku 2024 reinvents its identity. Now, UNI2 is among the main games, while TEKKEN 8 and Street Fighter 6 have been moved to the secondary layer — even if they still have many registered participants.

CEOtaku VIII is a great way to enter the holiday mood while enjoying fighting games esports with its anime extravaganza. Everything about the event is here: the schedule, stream, details, and results of the main tournaments.

Why is CEOtaku important for the community?

The main focus of most players in the FGC may naturally drift to the biggest titles, such as TEKKEN 8 and Street Fighter 6, but this doesn’t mean there are no smaller groups of dedicated gamers. People really enjoy Melty Blood and earlier Guilty Gear games. There are communities and competitors within JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, BlazBlue: Centralfiction, and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

The idea of CEOtaku is to promote these anime fighters to the first layer. Some other esports events also highlight niche titles, but often just as community tournaments. CEOtaku tries to focus on theese games. This makes CEOtaku pretty important for the fighting games community.

World Tours at CEOtaku 2024

The games of Arc World Tour 2024 have their Gold qualifiers at CEOtaku 2024. Some top-level players participate in these AWT 2024 tournaments to earn standing points.

  • Guilty Gear Strive — Jonathan Tene, the winner of VSFighting XI.

Also, The King of Fighters XV tournament is the official qualifier for the SNK World Championship 2025. Such events happen rarely, and only one qualification spot is available at CEOtaku 2024: for the winner.

The FGC has a rather short break after CEOtaku VIII. The next big event is a month away: Frosty Faustings XVII happens from Jan. 23 to Jan 26. For all fighting games news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
