Two weeks in, five to go for the Esports World Cup Club Championship.

With two weeks of the Esports World Cup behind us, the Club Championship is starting to take shape. The Championship is the cross game overall ranking. Clubs, or organizations, earn points based on their performance in each individual esport they compete in. Only finishing in the top eight earns you points.

The potential rewards for success are huge. There is a total prize pot of $27,000,000 avaliable - with $7,000,000 for the winning organization. That is a huge amount of money in the current climate for an esports team.

Last years competition was won by Team Falcons, with the organization dominating. They had more than double the points of second placed Team Liquid.

Team Falcons make bumpy start to Esports World Cup Club Championship

Despite their domination last year, Team Falcons have work to do. Several events that they expected to win have not gone to plan, with Falcons yet to win an event. They earned just 150 points from Apex Legends, a game they were considered one of the favourites. So far, they have only podiumed once coming second in Dota 2.

This leaves them in third place after the first two weeks. However, Team Falcons are competing in a huge amount of events compared to other teams and this does give them an advantage.

Team Vitality have made an excellent start and hold first place, but have significantly less events than Tram Falcons. They will be hoping in particular for a win in Counter Strike 2, which yields a significant opportunity for them.

Separating Falcons and Vitality after two weeks is Gen.G. Their League of Legends win, as well as good performances in VALORANT and Apex Legends has helped move them into a strong position. However, they have just three events left to play so are very unlikely to be able to keep pace with other teams.

There is still a long way to go in the race for the Esports World Cup Club Championship. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more coverage of the EWC this summer.
