When does the Esports World Cup start?
The Esports World Cup starts on July 2, 2024. The event takes place at the Boulevard Riyadh City where more than 2,500 players compete for a part of the $60 million in total prize pool. While the event’s opening ceremony takes place on July 2, the matches themselves start on July 5, 2024. They will continue well over a month ending on August 25, 2024.
There will be an opening ceremony on the day. With over 400 clubs competing in the Esports World Cup, it is an opportunity for many to etch their names in esports history. With a promise of recurring tournaments over the years, The Esports World Cup might leave a lasting legacy on an organization’s history.
The Esports World Cup features several games including but not limited to Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Fortnite, League of Legends, and Fortnite. It also has a number of mobile titles such as Free Fire, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, and more.
The Esports World Cup is organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), which is funded by the kingdom's Public Investment Fund (PIF), and esports organizer ESL. MLBB, Warzone, and Dota 2 kick things off in the first half of July with Counter-Strike, Rocket League, and other games following up next. The individual game tournaments usually have a short period lasting for a few days and in most cases, a single-elimination format.
