Snowpiercer is a reboot of the original Snowpiercer movie that released in 2013 directed by Bong Joon-ho. Snowpiercer is a perpetually moving train that circles the globe. It carries the last few remnants of humanity after the rest of the world has been made uninhabitable by the species. As the last few remaining humans are all crammed into one train, the show explores the political, financial and moral compass of humanity. The constant need to one-up others and balance it with survival leads to several social injustices. Ultimately, it leads to a revolt, which, while successful only pushes humanity closer to extinction.

Snowpiercer is based in 2026, which, now that we think about it is not that far away. The train has 1,001 carriages and moves around the globe. It completes 2.7 rounds per year. The Snowpiercer crew marvel as a rocket shoots through the sky, crashing nearby; Melanie sends Till and Ben to investigate; nine months later, New Eden blooms.

“We can’t wait to share the final season of this thrill ride of a series with this vibrant fan community and new viewers starting July 21 on AMC and AMC+, with plenty of time built in to catch up on previous seasons on a variety of on demand platforms and AMC+ before then,” said Courtney Thomasma, Executive Vice President of Streaming for AMC Networks. “Snowpiercer is an entertaining drama with a great cast and seeing how the ride ends will be a highlight of summer viewing worthy of a 1001-car train.”

Earlier this year, AMC announced it will pick up the fourth season of Snowpiercer. This is the final season and will put the story to an end. Whether it is something that fans will like and gives the show justice is something only time will tell.
