Clash of Clans has dominated mobile gaming for over a decade. Now it’s getting an animated series on Netflix.

Prepare your village because the legendary video game Clash of Clans is coming to our screens soon. Netflix revealed that the show is already in pre-production.

Clash of Clans show

According to Netflix, the show called Clash will bring both Clash of Clans and Clash Royale worlds together for a new series that builds "upon the mayhem of the games." It will follow "a determined, but over his head, Barbarian who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war."

Fletcher Moules, who worked on Entergalactic, will serve as showrunner. Futurama's Ron Weiner will be penning the series. Moules has previously collaborated with Supercell on a Clash of Clans animated short for YouTube, which has racked up hundreds of millions of views. Animation will be handled by ICON Creative Studio.

Curtis Lelash, head of Film & TV at the Helsinki-based developer, shared his excitement about the project: “We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and this incredible creative team to bring the world of Clash to life. Think epic battles, immaculate Barbarian mustaches, and the kind of humor our players know and love. Fans have been asking for a Clash series for years, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: it’s happening!”

When is the Clash of Clans show coming out on Netflix?

There’s no official release date yet for the Clash of Clans series on Netflix. You will have to stay tuned for more updates. But there’s reason to be optimistic — Netflix has been doubling down on animated adaptations of video games with notable success. Titles like Arcane, Sonic Prime, and Devil May Cry have resonated with audiences, while Tomb Raider has already made the jump to animation. The platform also has adaptations of Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, and Bioshock in the works.

What are the games about?

Supercell launched Clash of Clans in August 2012 as a mobile strategy game. The core gameplay revolves around building and upgrading your village using resources earned by attacking other players, collecting rewards, producing them locally, or purchasing them with medals. Clash Royale was released four years later as a follow-up to Clash of Clans' success. The games have racked up a combined total of over four billion downloads and 180 billion gameplay hours worldwide, according to Supercell.
