What is Assassin’s Creed live-action about?
In a joint statement to Netflix, the executive producers have revealed to be fans of the franchise since its first release in 2007. “Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour, and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story, about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith,” they explained. “It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance.”
Above all that, the series will be about “the value of human connection, across cultures, across time,” as they described it. “We’ve got an amazing team behind us with the folks at Ubisoft and our champions at Netflix, and we’re committed to creating something undeniable for fans all over the planet.”
While inspired by the popular video game franchise, the new series will not directly adapt any specific storyline from the games. We know it will take place in Rome in 64 AD. The official synopsis has not yet been revealed. Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the Assassin’s Creed live-action adaptation. We’ll keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available.
The success of the video game adaptations
In recent years, video game adaptations have carved out a significant place in the entertainment industry. Arcane, which was inspired by League of Legends, stands out as one of the most successful animated series, breaking multiple records and earning numerous accolades, including Annie Awards and Emmys.
Other series, such as The Last of Us, Devil May Cry, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Uncharted, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Minecraft, Borderlands, and Castlevania, have also brought many new fans to the games after their big success.
Still in 2026, several major video game adaptations are set to release, including a new Resident Evil film, along with Sonic the Hedgehog 4, The Legend of Zelda, and Mario sequel movies.
